Hello Blue Lotus fans!

Quite some time ago, Hoggy approached me with the proposal of making some art for this mod. Since I really like the idea of it, I agreed. Unfortunately I was faced with the problem of loosing my computer, so I haven't been able to work much on this until recently.

Originally, this was intended to be the japanese prebattle image. But since Hoggy has allready filled that place with his own excellent work due to me not reporting to him about the aforementioned situation:wall: , I'm now making it mostly for the fun of it. Perhaps Hoggy will find some other use for the picture, as a whole or portions of it. If not, it can always be enjoyed as is.

Here is a work in progress, with the majority of the foreground samurai characters finished. What remains is coloring the demons, background characters, background scenery and perhaps some effectful shading.

Also, here is a closeup on some of the action:

I will keep updating this thread with more pictures as the work progress.

Hope you enjoy.

I really hope Hoggy can fit your images in somewhere. To have another artist, especially of your level Tomte, can only make BL even better. As a loyal lurker i'm glad to know you're helping out.

DragoonXXIV:

Well, I was only supposed to help with two pictures, but I blew that and Hoggy has already made perfectly great images himself. But I thought that it would be a shame to waste this picture since it was started specifically for Blue Lotus, and when I contacted Hoggy about it he suggested that I could make posts here, if for nothing else, just for seeing the progress as I finish it. Once finished I guess it could be used as a wallpaper or whatnot. Unless Hoggy finds some use for it in the mod.

Still, thank you for the kind words. ~

And to all ORG-members, it was a real inspiration that I got an honorable mention in the 2005 awards. I'm much obliged.

Would it be at all possible to have it as the scrolling background as in Vanilla RTWs main menu? It looks fabulous.

I've been very busy with the Ran no Jidai-mod, so I've not had much time to work on this picture. Here's what little progress I've made since last thought:

Wow, that is some impressive work there. Looks excellent. Can't wait to see the finished product, even so I'm sure it would get my vote to be used as Blue Lotus art.

Indeed, I've always wondered if Tomte is a professional artist/

This one deserved to be picked out and drawn seperately I thought. I tried to give it a nice back-ground but that didn't work. Perhaps later.

That is amazing work Tomte, you have real talent there (Oh man that is the understatement of a lifetime). I'd comission work from you but I'm poor.

...Is it just me, or does it look like the soldier on the upper left end look like he is holding a tiny guitar?

That's a Japanese style signal flag. The design on the flag is based on the carrier's family crest so soldiers could recognize it and immediately discern his rank and authority.
