Beta Time!

Hey all you people

We're glad to announce that our public beta is finally done. We're going to release it next wednesday, march 1'st. Two months later than expected, but twice as good as well. It now features eight playable factions:

Hakamanishiya Pars
Athenai
Lakadaimon
Poleis Ioniades (correct this zenith)
Taras
Sakae
Kemetic Empire
Pandyan Kingdom

Also, we've managed to make a fully working campaign map focusing on Persia. It stretches from the tip of India, home of the mighty Pandyans, to Italy.
In future versions, you can expect to see completed factions also very important, if not more important than some factions we already have, like the Medes, Lydians, Neo-Babylonians, Phoenicians, Cilicians and many more. Our next target is to get Lydia done; Which Goscinio has already started modelling and skinning.

-------------------------
ROP beta 1 has been designed for RTW 1.2, that's why we announce it before the release. You'll have enough time to get yourselves an 1.2 install. We're going to convert to RTW 1.5 soon hereafter, you'll notice it when we've finished that but we expect that it doesn't take as long. It surely won't take us another two months hehe ;) Rather a week or two tops. We all hope you'll enjoy playing this beta, which has been entirely reworked in just a week by Nero and Spurius, of course with help from the rest of the team.

We welcome you all to http://www.riseofpersia.com to register at the forums, visit our gallery, or whatever you want.

The Persians didn't have any chariots at the start of our mod, which plays from 559 to 490 BC. It features Achaemenid Persia. All of our units are backed by historical sources; Rez is originally from Persia/Iran and can surely back up the lack of horse archers. Elephants were commonly used in the Sassanid Dynasty, which came into existance some time before BI starts, almost 800 years later than our mod. Spurius, a very active member of the RoP team, is going to start a mod based on the Rise of Sassanid Persia, or RoP II. More detailed information about that upcoming mod will be posted all over the community soon, but first we're going to get this beta out.
