How do I get on stw mp?

I played MTW MP ( I play it sometimes and I regulary visit the MTW Mp Lobby on GS) and I played and still playing the RTW/BI MP. I had STW when it first came out,now I want to know how do I log on STW?? I know STW Server Was SHut Down, but I know some of you guys made your own server,right?? can you guys plz help me??

Hello.

You can visit my web page and download SHAMBLESTW
from the downloads section. (that will set up your stw to connect to fake server.)

"Make sure you read the Notice at the top of the page before you start downloading."

You may also need to download Libaryfiles.exe to make the
files work.

alternetavly.
you can edit your Internet.cfg file. in your Shoguntw directory.

the STW mp section of this forum for details.

I can't use it cuz my Computer can't run MS-DOS. One Day, I was using a MS-DOS program, and it quit on me,ever since then, I can't use MS-DOS, and this server, unlucky for me since I always get scwered lol, it uses MS-DOS and I can't use it. what sohlud I do????

then open the internet.cfg file into the shogun directory and edit it, pasting this:

u should then be able to connect to Shambles' server.

you need to replace your
autoexec.nt with a correct version..

but dont worry about that for now..

Just download This

And put it in your STW directory..

The exe i made also adds this file to your stw directory.

So you may want to download that and put it in your stw directory as well.

(the exe setup module.. i made simply adds these files to your stw directory, in a way so you can return to the previous files if needed. so you can just download these and put them in your stw directory.)

what's this file jnet_init.dat?
Mine contains an IP adress=159.153.114.252
and a port number=4096, I suppose.
The IP is obviously of Electronic Arts.

What does it do and why is it needed?

i dont know what it does or why or if its needed.
I found it one day and ever since i added the servers Ip adress to it i stoped getting.
"player is out of sync" message when playing vs trish.

Dunno if its needed.
but seeing as it does have something to do with the old server.
May as well referance it to the existing server.

I used to play a lot but still haven't figured out how to log in on XP.. bleh. I took about 300 tries now :(

yeah i'm on xp m8...

i didnt have to install any of the dos stuff or anything...

i find it helps if i switch off the microsoft antispyware and i just leave the xp firewall up (ports open for stw of course) but i switch my real time virus scanner off as well...

i dont run it under compatibility mode or anything like that .....

umm when you loggin it also seems to help to let it hang for 5 seconds during the logging on phase.... if all this fails then i start pressing enter lol but i dont know if tihs helps..

at my last resorts i start dancing around in front of the computer chanting things and spinning around and hitting enter at the same time as i hit the mouse... it also helps to hop on one leg....

If you have installed shogun WE, patched to 1.02, and changed the 'Internet.cfg' in the main folder into:

ChatserverIPAddress = ShogunTW.no-ip.info
ChatserverPort = 8793

NewsserverPort = 8797
ShogunTotalWarWebsite = http://dflw.2ya.com

it should work. If it doesn't, you will probably get the message 'logging in...' and don't get any further.

when you have that, first of all:

- try a zillion times
- press enter like a maniac, and click continue while pressing enter all the time :)

if it still doens't work it's going to be difficult :(

I downloaded the Patch, but when I try to Open it, it said something like "Invaild File,Corrupt or not Found" can't exactly remember..

and I didn't save the Patch into the Shogun Dic when I was Download it so..

But why does MS-DOS keep preventing me from not using it?? that the only ploblem I got..

it wont let you extract the patch, becous it seems to be corrupted...
download it again..

and the dos files dont work becous your Autoexec.nt file is missing or corupted...
its a prety well known problem with windows xp.
there could also be a nother missing file but its usualy autoexec.nt
There are programs that will replace these files (autoexec, and some others) for you.

When this has happened to me in the past and the download was available elsewhere (which the patch is) I just went to an alternate source until I got an uncorrupted file. FWIW ... .

Warman - where did you try downloading the patch from? I originally used Shambles' page, but I kept getting corrupted files like you, and then I downloaded it from totalwar.com and it worked fine.

have you configured STW (normal) for the fakeserver?

anyway, get WE if you don't have it.

are you sure your internet.cfg file has the right contents?

you could download the internet cfg file i linked to a few posts ago.

Then right click the shortcut you use to start stw.
click the icon.>then select properties>find target

this will open the folder where the internet.cfg file needs to live.
and then you can moove the downloaded file to there.
Or alternetavly,
you can...

right click the shotcut you use to start shougun>properties>find target.
and then copy the file path from the adress feild at the top.
And paste that in as the download directory when you download the internet .cfg

The Edited internet.cfg file. MUST live in the same folder as the exe that starts the game..

The only thing that needs to be done to access Shambles server from “any” version of STW is to change the “Internet” CFG File.

Original reads:

ChatserverIPAddress = daphne.eagames.co.uk
ChatserverPort = 8794
NewsserverIPAddress = daphne.eagames.co.uk
NewsserverPort = 8797
ShogunTotalWarWebsite = www.totalwar.com

Changed to:

ChatserverIPAddress = ShogunTW.no-ip.info
ChatserverPort = 8793
NewsserverIPAddress = daphne.eagames.co.uk
NewsserverPort = 8797
ShogunTotalWarWebsite = http://dflw.2ya.com/

(without the underlines)
And save it.

With multiple tries you should be able to log on.

Step 1...
Right click the shot cut you use to start shogun, and select properties.

A new window will open.
Select find target.

A new window will open "this is your shogun directory"
Highlight the text in the address feild. Right clcik it and say Copy.

When propted to save or open say save.
a new window will open..

now where it says file name. You need to click just in front of the test thats already in the box. and then right click and select Paste.
also you need to add a \ so it ends up similar to this.

and we have also added a \ inbetween the pasted text, and the internet.cfg text.

Just remember the INTERNET.cfg file Lives in your Shogun directory.

So you can just do step 1 through 3.
download the internet file any where you like,

and then moove the file to the shogun directory.

your shogun directory is the new window that opens in step 3.
