View Full Version : Europa Barbarorum Multiplayer!!!

A surprising discovery of mine lead me to start a modification of Rome Total War 1.5 that would be as much historically accurate as possible while being 100% compartible with Multiplayer with ANY player that has vanilla 1.5 game installed.
If one changes only the descr_model_battle.txt file and doesnt touch the export_descr_unit file he can alter the look of the units in so many ways that a complete conversion can be achieved.
What this means is that the player with Europa Barbarorum multiplayer will see all his armies as historically accurate and all the armies of his oponnents that he encounters in Multiplayer.
The only issue here are the shared units since the models cannot be signed because the export_descr_unit file shouldnt be altered in ANY way.
The mod itself is just the descr_model_battle.txt file but it requires most of EB's models and textures to be present in the models_unit folder and all the UI packs to be unpacked and deleted so EB's unit cards and info pics to be used.
At this stage I have converted most of the factions but faced with serious obstacles I had to use some RTR models/skins for elephants and other mounts as well as for some gaps in units that werent covered in EB's OB.
Ive played tens of battles online and all of them were a completely new experience to me.
But as I said I had many problems with shared units:

Seleucid Legionares- These are practically Thorakitai Argyraspides however their model is shared with the Late Imperial Legionnarries and without 3ds Max skills and the program itself its very hard for me to modify the model to use it (through skin alpha manipulation) for both. Ive used also the same Hellenistic Cataphract model for Armenia Parthia and Seleucids...

Sarmatian Lancers (and many other units) - Ive faced with the problem of first and secondary weapons, sice I couldnt alter them on the model itself I had problems with the bow primary weapon as the vanilla unit is just using the lance. I only need the weapons to be switched so they appear with the weapon assigned by the export_descr_unit file.

If the above issues can be solved I see no other obstacles for a historically accurate and compartible with ANYONE experience. Even the animations can be used without any problems.
Respecting the EB members hard labor I apply for permission to release the mod aiming for people that play MP only and would like to have a historically accurate game.
