I have decided to answer some questions before they will be asked. The FAQ will be expanded later when some really frequent questions will appear.

Q. What do I need to play the mod.

A. Working, fresh installation of the MTW VI.

Q. Is there anything I should install in addition to the main file.

A. Yes, music pack 01 is essential to play the mod, but nothing more is required, even the patch for the VI isn't necessary, but you will find it useful nonetheless.

Q. Why playing on bigger unit size isn't allowed.

A. Many units already reched the numbers close to 200 or 200 itself, playing in bigger unit settings will result in CTDs.

Q. Where is the English Civil Wars campaign ?

A. Currently locked i.e. most of the files are here, but the campaign isn't available. There is a problem with CP and MP for that campaign and in the small patch ( early May) it will be unlocked with the bug hopefully removed or at least with SP ready to play.

Q. Where are my Organ Guns, my beloved, little Organ Guns ?

A. The artillery was modified for the mod. Some artillery pieces i.e. less useful are available only by changing the battle mode ( so dismounting) some of the available cannons - Serpentines for example 'dismount' into Organ Guns.

Q. My game CTD when I am clicking the province with rightmouse button. What happened ?

A. There is a risk of CTDs linked to too large number of structures generating income. The exact, safe number is still a matter of speculation and research, but for now I can only advise not to build every single one of them in one province - it doesn't include mines or farming structures - and because many of them are unique buildings, sometimes impossible to combine in one place without some real effort these CTDs should not happen at all, unless you are really unlucky. The matter is in testing still, so it will be corrected if necessary.

Q. Was Keira Knightly really in betatesting team ?

A. I suggest asking her personally.

Q. What are the ending dates of the campaigns ?

A. 1710 for the first one,
1760 for the second,
1810 for the third one
ECW will get around 200 turns

I am thinking about extending the time to 250-270 years per campaign, we will see.

Q. Are there any patches planned in the future ?

A. Yes, first, small patch will appear in around 2 weeks' time and will correct various smaller mistakes found by players, add some historical heroes and unlock ECW campaign - it should be around 1 megabytes.
Second much bigger will be released in June/July and will add new animations, hopefully a new map and some other things.

Locked because basically for some reson it didn't work in custom/PM mode.

But worry not PMTW 2.0 will bring it back. Even more - during the Xmas time I had several brilliant ideas which will make the campaign trully unique - I will post some screenshots soon and those will make you all tremble before me !:whip: :laugh4:

I do have another question tho'. I installed the mod using JSGME but whilst P&M works perfect fine, it knocks out MTW, any ideas what's wrong?

He is. IIRC there were some new discoveries in the total number of units available, so he's now busy filling up the gained space I believe.....

I'm sure it depends on how much you modded. An actually hosted or pinned modification? Probably not, but don't quote me on it. A few edited folders you've done on your own such as the the unit or build prod folders, yes :D I've done it. It's the actually modifications that can't be done, because MTW VI was before mod switches' time. This like NTW, XL are overwrites. In other words, make a back up of your original MTW VI.

And also, can a third AI be made for Orthodox factions (in this mod). The second I end my turn in 1480 as you guessed it Russia DOWs me. Plus there are a couple Orthodox factions that are barbarian raiders, but I guess the real focus of the mod is the Catholics vs the Protestants, thus being the need for the AI switch. Personally I would have put the protestants as barbarian raiders ~;) But for game purposes maybe the Catholics, seeing as they were constantly willing and wanting to wage war against these new age heritic Protestant nations, should have been put as barbarian raiders.

AFAIK, both the campaign and battle AI can be modded to some extent in M2TW. As for earlier games, the battle formations the AI uses can be modded in RTW, which can improve its behaviour a little. I'm not aware of any AI moddability in Shogun or Medieval 1.

Rather not in MTW VI, but it can be in Rome or MTW2 (or ETW - I hope).

The problem is that Barbarian Rider or any AI behaviour in MTW VI isn't FIXED as such - factions shift their AI models very often so those barb. riders might become peaceful muslims on their next turn anyway...

Initial AI behaviour model has little influence overall, but helps in the beginning.

When I started the project I WRONGLY assumed that pagan factions CANNOT get anything else, but as I explained above it is all too random to really care about this detail.

Greetings and Happy New Year!

I'm ready to install PMTW 1.5.
I have MTW & VI ready to reinstall - clean copy, yes?

I've done it once before (Hellenic TW) but have forgotten HOW I did it!!

When I put in the CD, it asks if I want to UNINSTALL MTW.

Or, if I open the CD,.look inside, where do I go? I try Install.exe (I think) and get the same question- do I want to UNINSALL MTW?

Thanks for the quick reply! But, I don't want to Uninstall, do I? I want to keep my MTWVI & HTW and add PMTW. So I need to Install yet a third Folder of MTWVI to put the PMTW into. Is this not correct?

Yes, that will be the best solution. In fact you might want to instal it twice to add MP/Custom Battle mode in one if you want to try it (adds new factions and over 80 new units).

Yes, thanks. Now: I am trying to install my 3rd copy of MTW+VI.

My problem is this: I click on the setup icon (on the disc) and it begins to install - then I get the message: "Are you sure you want to UNINSTALL MTW and all its features?"

So, I tried to rename the old files, but was told "this may make the game unplayable."

So, the question is: How do I INSTALL the 3rd installation of MTW?

I have PMTW installed on MTW Gold. Custom battles are fine but Campaign CTD when I hit start.
Any ideas?

Your campaign map resolution might be too large - please check that it is the usual problem with any MTW mod.:yes:

Funny thing is I checked the Map resolution and found it was at lowest! I tweaked it up one and now everything is fine!!:idea2:

Hi, looks like a truly amazing mod!, but I have a quite silly problem with making the mod work at all. I have installed the mod and the music-file, but it just says "put in the correct cd", and it doesn't work when I put in the MTW cd,,, perhaps obvious I dont know,, however is there something essential I've missed or done wrong?

The mod is for MTW - Viking Invasion. You need to use that CD. :yes:

I installed and played P&M yesterday, had some fun with the Dutch (why is the stadthouder called Agustiin rather than Willem or Maurits?) and saved my progress before I quit the game. It all worked rather smoothly, I played it for about 4 hours before stopping and there were no ctd's. however, this morning, I attempted several times to reload my campaign game, which failed, CTD! I then checked out if I could start a new campaign (and then maybe load it from there)... Crash to Desktop! :dizzy2:

what's the problem? I do have the highest resolution settings for map and battlefield, but it all worked quite well yesterday!
well... I did start with the screenres on the default levels and then upscaled in-game... might be worth checking out.

I'll try a system reboot first now, and will try again, if it keeps happening, I'll be back shortly ;)

Hi all, This mod is just awesome and told my buddy's about it.
I have 1 little problem though, I installed the "MP pack for the patched PMTW.exe"
I got bored after a few custom games, but I don't know how to reconvert it towards campaign mode, how can I do this?

There should be 'uninstall MP pack...' somewhere in your MTW/PMTW folder.

If it doesn't work just overwrite it with your PMTW 1.5 + patch and it will be ok.

Frankly only a small number of files is changed, but some are difficult to find.
