I'm begining to look at buying a laptop in a few months. So, what's a good laptop for a student and of course a gamer.

What sort of budget are you working on? Most cheaper laptops have in-built graphics processors which aren't great for gaming. You can get some good gaming laptops with seperate graphics cards, but they are generally towards the top-end of the price range.

If you've got the cash to splash, Alienware (http://www.alienware.co.uk/product_pages/notebook_all_default.aspx) make very good gaming laptops, but they can be very pricey.

Now I see that Alienware has an SLI notebook. (http://www.alienware.com/product_detail_pages/Aurora_m9700/aurora-m_overview.aspx?SysCode=PC-LT-AURORA-M-9700&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT) Yowza! Is anybody else shipping these things? In the words of my personal hero, Gollum, "We wants it, Bagginses!"
