View Full Version : MP Campaign: Issues that need resolving

MP Campaign players ONLY please. Here are the main issues that there have been some questions over.

1. Can we reload?

I don't think this is a good idea at all. If we can reload we can do all sorts of things, like sending a spy into a city to try and open the gates and reloading if they don't open. No time machines in Roman times (no time machines now, actually) and we are very unlikely to miss stuff out considering the length between turns.

2. Unit scale huge or large?

I don't really mind, although I am going for large as I don't want my population being sucked up.

3. Are we able to fight battles automatically against AI factions?

I think we shouldn't be able to. It is already quite unfairly biased against factions surrounded by human neighbours, (humans are much more strategically able), if we allow people to fight battles against the AI (this is normal battle difficulty remember) it will make things worse IMO.

1. There should be no re-loading
2. I think Normal will be the best choice
3. All battles should be fought via auto-resolve

1. Voted No Reloading
Even with the best intentions of trying strategies, you cannot help but discover things in your turn. If you then reload this give you an unfair advantage. Besides, it's horribly unrealistic.
2. Voted Huge
The only reason I can see for smaller armies is computer lag in battles, which isn't that big a deal... The huge settings are more realistic too.
3. Abstained
I'm not bothered.

I think you must have chosen the wrong option for the first one by accident, Rick.

On 2, if we just auto resolve then theres no problem, large/huge just affects your population really. I'm not bothered about population, personally.

NO re-loading
Large Unit Size would be fine. But whatever you all want to play on is okay.
Manual vs AI suits me fine too.

Opps! I am sorry. Discount my vote, I didn't see the "Multiplayer player only". Sorry about that.

It would seem there is a tie on the automatic battles vs AI issue. How can we resolve this?

*Notice* There is a problem with 1.5 ... when Myradraal comes onto msn i will ask him if it would be a good idea to use vanilla instead [sorry for any inconvinence]

No reloading, that is obvious. I like large unit scale. I would vote for manual battles against AI.

STOP!

I know what this problem is and I have successfully been able to fix it. All you have to do is use the question mark button on the settlement scroll. I will send you the export_descr_advice file, UltraWar.

Please don't use vanilla, we will all have to reinstall our games if you do.

OK, two things have happened since I said that there was a tie - Ignoramus became a member (and so his vote counts) and AwesomeArcher voted. There is still a tie.
