Konnichiwa.

I've put together a new installer for Samurai Warlords aka The Shogun mod for M:TW/VI.
I call it Beta_7 because of the half baked things we had between Beta_5 and now.

It includes the new Multiplayer stats by Yuuki called "Samurai Wars MP", a new beta_7 era ("Samurai Warlords") and the classic beta_5 era with only minor compatibility changes.
It also includes barocca's model pack. We'll have a patch soon for the map conversion. The models can be accessed in the "Map Editor" mode and we would appreciate any maps made by the community.

WARNING: This is an overwrite mod. Your original version of Medieval:TW/VI will not work properly after installing this mod. Thus it is recommended to provide a fresh installed version of the game or an unmodded copy of the original game.

The original eras won't work properly. The same is true for the "Quick Battle" option. It results in a CTD.
For the guys who swapped the sound over from Shogun, keep in mind that the Samurai factions now run under "Orthodox". You may need to change some things.

Multiplayer features:
- literary years of tweaking and testing by some of the best MP players
- balanced gameplay and strong Rock-Paper-Scissor system
- seperate MP era (completely independent unit stats from singleplayer campaign)
Included singleplayer campaign features:
- Campaign map of Japan, including 60 provinces
- 30 clans !
- all units from Shogun:TW/MI (minus Mongols)
- strategic pieces: Emissary, Shinobi, Ninja, Geisha and Princesses
- user interface and menus in Shogun style
- strong AI opponent/ balanced armies

Uploading now......stand by for a download link.......My eyes bleed, more later......

:wall: :furious3:

I suspected a bug when the version where I tested the installer crashed repeatedly. I even downloaded a file tree comparison tool, only to find out that everything is okay.
Reason for the crashes: Compatibility mode wasn't turned on.

Sorry for the delay.
It's coming soon.........

Don't worry. These 'last moment' mistakes are the worst part when finishing a release of any mod.:sweatdrop:

Okay,

I've added the awesome mappack by Puzz3d to the installer in the last minute.
Just need to do one more test run and then I'll load this beast up to Mizu's server.

While waiting for the download link, here's how the AI defeated me in a castle battle (made possible by Puzz3d):

He attacked the wall with Warrior Monks while keeping all other units out of range:

Note how his taisho just observes but doesn't attack even though he's close.

Just downloaded it. Are the new cav sprites in?
Guess MP is not compatible with the previous version, that's going to complicate things a bit for people who don't want to have multiple installs.

:dizzy2: Yes the new cav animations are in.
The idea was to release a version that brings people back to one level after we had so many smaller pieces released. But it's true, the smap_5 file I included uses a different unit_prod from the original beta_5. I suspect they aren't compatible. Savegames may work.
But who, who has played the mod, wouldn't want a seperate install?

I've created a monster.
I can't seem to win a battle against the cunning AI. :laugh4:
I just lost a campaign as Imagawa. Don't know when that ever happened before.
We've some maps that aren't adjusted to our new tileset.
One of them is Suruga. If you find other weird looking maps, please report so that they can be fixed.
Another problem that sometimes occurs is that while defending a castle,
your troops are placed outside. Or the other way round.
Please report those castles here.

The full names list for all clans will also be in the next version.

Have Fun.

The mod includes a single player campaign era smap_7 (actually two, because smap_5 is also in it) as well as a seperate Multiplayer era "Samurai Wars MP".
Currently the new smap_7 installer is all you need.
Download here: http://www.mizus.com/files/files/MTW/Stats/STW_Mod_BETA_7.exe
You install it by executing the STW_Mod_BETA_7.exe.
It asks for your install destination, please answer with the location of your Medieval install.

Although the beta_7 is only a few days old I'm already working on a patch to fix the maps in the SP campaign. It will be a minor adjustment to edit the terrain of the provinces. They all need to be set to lush, as lush is the folder where our modded tiles live in.
A hotfix for experienced users would be to copy all files from lush into the folders rocky, arid, temperate and desert.
I'll also include some new names and maybe tune down some of those ridiculously high command stars.

Important note: Since we have seperate eras, the patch will in no way effect the MP part. I'll try to keep these updates seperate to minimze any confusion and MP compatibility issues.

Thank you so much for this mod. Simply awesome job! Just wondering one thing is there a way to get original shogun music and battle voices in game? Can I just rename music files from original Shogun to match MTW and overwrite existing files. Probally not that simple eh?
Anyways just wanted to let you know that I appreciate all the work and have my vote for best mod to date. Being a huge fan of STW and was hoping for a STW 2 instead of MTW 2, oh well maybe next time. Thanks again.

You can and it's not that complicated.
In this thread: Download & Install information (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=48926) there's a link to a sound_swapper, made by Tosa Inu.
In the first post there's the link and further down I had a little discussion with Yunus Donus about it. I guess all the info you need is there.

Hello,

I've finished the Beta_7.1 patch.

Changes:
- fixed the weird looking maps in SP campaign caused through new tile set
- SP maps now resemble Original Shogun maps
- gave character names to most of the new factions (no more 10 Shimazu Takahisa :))
- added some character names for old factions
- added faction descriptions for smap_7 Campaign
- toned down the command stars of heroes
- added hero names
- added faction descriptions for new factions
- newly balanced start positions in smap_7
- fixed religion and culture in smap_5
- fixed colours on two factions
- changed a few buildings (fewer Temples now)
- changed Takeda startup troops (has ltd. Cavalry now)

It can be downloaded here: (ca. 400 Kb)http://www.totalwar.org/Downloads/Mtw_Uploads/MTWupload/STW_Mod_BETA_7.1_patch.exe

P.S.: Since this update is small, I was able to upload it to .org, too.
The link to Mizu server will also be up soon. (thanks again to Tosa Inu)

Here comes a Multiplayer update: (copied over from MP section)

I finished two maps. I edited Mizulands 1 & 10 to suit our needs.

Download here (http://www.totalwar.org/Downloads/Mtw_Uploads/MTWupload/SamWarsMP_MapPack_1.exe)

I hope that's sufficient for this weekend. They are intended to be hosted
on Lush (Temeprate should work but hasn't been tested. When I say work I mean "look good") I added some Japanese models to the scenery.

Have Fun!

R'as

It can be used SP custom battles, too.
Mapnames: (fl)_Samwars 1 & (fl)_Samwars 2

Especially like the user interface and menu look of the original Shogun game! Can't wait to try it online.

Thank You all!

Looks great, just the thing to get me to reinstall M:TW/VI. I was worried people would quit working on their M:TW mods after R:TW and announcement of M:TW2 but i'm glad to see that wasn't the case.

RTW actually provided the incentive to develop Samurai Wars for MTW/VI MP using STWmod, and that seems to have renewed interest in further developing the mod itself. Barocca and R'as have done the work that has resulted in the beta 7. It's interesting that I'm doing the maps because Clan Takiyama was originally known as the map making clan since two founders, Tosa and Kraellin, were the preimer mapmakers during the time of the STW demo when there was no documentation on how to make maps. Another Takiyama founder, Rob, made a program which allowed demo maps to be converted for use in the release version of STW which had no map editor. I'll fix the impassable terrain problems on the current beta 7 maps, and release them as a patch.
