The last one of these I did never went very well. I was th House of Julii. I am going to start a new one as macedon. It'd be like a play by email campaign on medium/medium. Anyone up for it? I'd say I am looking for 9 or more players...

Current Players:
Bombasticus Maximus
Caius Flaminius

I may be interested, but please change the title. Monarch used the "Heirs of Alexander" for his Seleucid PBM:

If you can think of an alternative title, I can edit the thread title for you.

You should think about the settings and rules - e.g. what difficulty level? How many turns does each player play? etc.

I'm in, but put me near the end of the line.

I was actually thinking of doing a grand Macedonian-themed PBM complete with rules and such, but later on... let me know if you guys are interested in the rules that I was thinking about.

This PBEM can be called "Following the steps of Alexander" or "Objetive:Rome"

Good luck on getting this PBM off the ground, as for myself - I'm confining my already scarce time to the Will of the Senate PBM.

Bombasticus Maximus, you must need the rules for playing this PBEM.
If you want a reference rules check "The Ascent of The Julii" PBEM at https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=68228

What about the Rise of Macedon?

What about the Rise of Macedon?

Sounds better

Rules thanks to General Hankerchief:

- The theme should be reunification of Alexander's Empire. Thus, our targets should be any city held by the Successor Kingdoms (Thrace, Greek Cities, Seleucids, Pontus, Egypt), plus a couple of others.

- Once (and only once) that objective has completed, the Macedonians should turn their eyes to that pesky threat to the West: Rome.

- So there should be two distinct stages to this PBM. First stage: Hold off Rome while retaking all the Alexandrian territories. Second stage: Destroy Rome.

- By holding off Rome does not mean you can step inside italy no matter what they chuck at you.

- Hiring mercs is up to you.

- No bribing rebel/other nations generals.

- You send the save game after your general dies.

- You must keep a tally of all your kills and add them up at the end.

Thoughts on anymore?

The rules sound good but I would advise against reigning for the length of your general. In RTW, general's just live far too long - it can become a drag for the player and boring for everyone else waiting. 20 turns (10 years) would be more manageable. Time enough to achieve something, but no more than a week or two to play.

This PBEM has a special focus of story telling?

Bombasticus Maximus
09-18-2006, 21:02
Yes to story telling. I may set up a quick invisionfree forum to keep it all togther as the will of the senate is main topic in here. Ten turns sound good. The story telling is a yes. But you have to bare with me as I never done one before so I will not be any good.

Sorry, I think I'll have to pass - it's a bit busy at work and I have a couple of overseas trips planned in October.

On the length of reigns, I was suggesting 10 years, ie 20 turns, which might be better given the small number of confirmed players.

All the best with it. :2thumbsup:

Is this PBEM using RTW V1.5 ? I would like to play if it does.

Caius

Yeah, RTW 1.5 no mods.

Ok Im in if you want me. I have quite a few commitments in October but will gladly help reunite the empire even if I can only manage a few turns.

I personally like to see these sort of games move along fast ...with the game changing hands every two or three days.

Anyhows...shout when you need me.
