I thought of a good idea for a forum game.
Basically, there are two kingdoms (England and France) each one containing forum members.
Once the King of England and the King of France have been elected, all the remaining players decide whose subjects they will be. The two kings then chose what each of their subjects shall be. Kings may wish to reward ardent supporters by making them dukes, counts etc.
If there is enough people, there may even be a Pope.

I was thinking of making a game exactly like this a while back. An idea that I had was that you would have Gods who would control things like natural disasters etc. based on the amount of worship they received from the people. There would be a 'team' of several Gods (based on the amount of players) who would each control a certain aspect of the game.
Needless to say, this looks great so I am DEFINITELY in.

We still can't start until quite a few more people join, but this may help to speed things up.

OK, but are you going to tell us which teams we are in advance so that we can begin with the politics early on or do we choose them amongst ourselves now or what?

The whole of the players elect two respective kings. They then decide whose side they are on.
We aren't voting yet, as there aren't enough people at the moment. What we are doing, is privately trying to get others to vote us as one of the two kings.
So if you know anyone here at The Guld who would be interested ask them to join.

There will be turns. Probably of 3 or 4 months duration.
Members of the same kingdom can communicate via Private Message, email, or a chat service like MSN. Basically, it's up to you.
The two kings will only be allowed to communicate via forum posts, no private messaging allowed. Other nobles, however, can communicate in any way to the kings.

Excelent. How do we find out which nation we're initially alligned with? Is their going to be a draft or randomly chosen sides after the two kings are named. Not that it matters I'll be patiently shovelling dung somewhere :laugh4:

There is a barony available in the duchy of Normandy.
Job description:
Land with serfs for Administration and a prominent place in the Norman army. You will be rising (hiring) your own Knights and give them land from your land. The knights and serfs will pay you taxes of which you will pay the duchy of Normandy its 50% share. The amount and what should be taxed is left to your discretion.
Prima Noche is granted but 'should' only be used if your wife is barren.
The duchy of Normandy needs good soldiers raised in the tradition of our forefathers.
Post your application in the "King of France" thread with the header: Norman Baron and give a few reason why I should choose you as my baron.

Essentially, both Malcolm and I make campaign promises until each player has sworn fealty to one of us. Personally, I'd rather lline them all up against the brick wall and play picksies, but this has its advantages.

The 7 districts in the county of Norfolk are;
1) Norwich 2) South Norfolk 3) Great Yarmouth 4) Broadland 5) North Norfolk 6) King's Lynn and West Norfolk (sounds like royal lands to me, best not to hand that out) and 7) Breckland.
In general, just look up the county in Wikipedia. There's a listing of all the districts, the county seat, etc. In your case, your county seat (where you'll most likely put your own personal manor) is Norwich, so you'll probably want to avoid that one as well.

That is assuming we will lose, French do not lose (we just have temporary setbacks)
Well, I've sworn my sword to the Earl of Chester, and through him Good King Malcolm. The lemur is now the Baron of Halton.
Strong knights will need a home for times when they are not on Crusade of smiting the smelly French. The Barony of Halton offers such knights special accommodations:
Free dwarf tossing
Every Thursday is "Ravish a Milkmaid" themed
Squires stay free!
Every knights' manor comes with a wooden privy
Armor polishing 1/2 off until the end of November
Parish priests guaranteed to pardon all sins at reasonable rates
Frankly, I don't see how any up-and-coming man-at-arms can afford to consider any Barony besides Halton. PM Baron Lemur with questions.

We've been in a holding pattern for a while now. Pick a side you want to be on, then find somebody you wouldn't mind having as your feudal lord and text them that you want to be a baron for their county/duchy.

Wow. A civil war has engulfed England. The French king is consolidating power at the expense of his vassals. I think the Puritans must have something to do with this.
