The Shogun

Hi guys

Well I just thought I would pop by and say a few words on what we are up to at the moment. Well the localised versions of patch V1.12 are at CQC and I am hoping to get them posted for next Mondays/Fridays Honour day. Work is still in progress on patch V1.13 and as promised we are trying to get the honour display feature for online play into the patch but I will let you know soon if it is going to make in when I know for sure.

Focus is now moving on to a another project which I am sure you will all be very pleased with. We are all really excited here - I am afraid we can't announce any details right now but hopefully soon and you guys will be among the first to know. As you no doubt know we looking into running a new competitive league table on top of the current tables and Honour league. This is quite a task as we need to address problems such as cheating, and making sure that all players get a crack at the whip despite their experience. So bear with me on that one - we are on the case and will keep you updated.

That is wonderful news that you have provided us (especially for our non-english players). I know that I am looking forward to the complete feature list for 1.13, the new competitive league and news on the new project!

SOMETHING WE will be excited about?????

I can think of a lot of things...

multiplayer campaign (doubtful)
expansion with scenarios/ more clans (remember, not too long ago what's his face... that British historian was over there talking with them).
an editor... campaign, scenario, maps...
some other cool stuff perhaps....

I'd say the editor is my #1 priority, the mod community's growth has really been stunted, and we saw during the demo days just how strong a factor our local editing crew can be, but they need the right tools for the job first.

Magy,

Is there anyone else within the development team that you think is more deserving of the title than Richie?

We are but shadows of our former selves and the sons and daughters of lions have become sheep. I am the ghost of our past.

Hmm...yeah I guess Richie can handle the title..Shoguns often were rarely seen by the general populace, and could be fickle and untimely with their information.

Yeah, we NEED more editing/mod tools. You only have to look at what Counter-Strike has done for Half-Life to see just how effective mods can be in boosting the sales of the original game.

If I could understand some of the file formats better I would write an editor or two myself, but without inside info that's pretty much impossible.

Hello,

Will the new 1.13 patch include a fix for Shogun not running on any nVIDA driver above 6.18? This is a serious defect in the game.

Regards

Hiya, I've been getting home from work (1am) and playing STW (Full Campaign) till about 5am ever since I've bought the game. I've noticed dark circles under my eyes which makes me believe I really like this game. I was wondering, have the creators ever consider a PBEM (play by email) multiplayer option? Just think, playing the TBS part of the game by email and resolving (RTS) the battles online. I wouldn't have the slightest idea how much work it would be or even if its possible. But I'm interested to hear any comments about it and if it will be considered for any future patches.
Thanx

There has been a lot of talk about mutliplayer campaign games, with a variety of different models proposed.

I still believe (naive fool that I am) that most of the problems could be overcome, but there is a substantial body of opinion that says it would simply be too difficult to do.

Yes, yes, but a lot of those problems are invalid when it comes to LAN multiplayer which still seems to be forgotten or over looked with the emphasis on online MP. Well thats my whinge for the day....

Let's clear some points:

1) Richie is the only active representative from the developers and producers and he is highly dedicated and listens to us, the fans. His post is truly well deserved.

2) Patch 1.13 will probably not include a multi-purpose editing tool. But in the future it will certainly be released. By that time someone from us fans has to in someway make such a tool.

3) MP Campaign Projects were being proposed and nearly put up by Avenging Warrior and Co.
Erado, what are you doing about it?

That' all folks.
