I have seen lots of people complain about the faction color of the Byzantines, and I agree with this assessment myself. The old Byzantine purple was is pretty bland.

So I decided to give them a new color, Tyrian Purple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrian_purple). This color is possibly more realistic and historically correct than the old color, but it's definitely better looking than the old color. :thumbsup2 . I changed the unit skins, the shields, and the mounts.

I haven't changed the general though, he is still in the old Byzantine purple. But I guess this will help them stand out a little, so look at it as a bonus. :P

The file is just under 10 MB.

To install, simply run the installer, then open your medieval2.preference (or the preferences file for the mod you wish to use the skins with) with notepad, and enter:

[io]
file_first = true

This makes the game use the files present to override files in the pack.

To uninstall, if you have not unpacked your files, simply delete the unit_models folder. If you have unpacked your files, unzip the "backup byzantine textures" directly into your M2TW directory.

If anyone wants to use these in their own mod, feel free, but please give me credit.

It seems that I didn't set up the folder structure correctly for the Latinkons, so you will have to go into data\unit_models\_units\es_mail and put the file "mtw2_es_mail_byzantium" into the textures folder, or if you don't have a textures folder then create one and put it in there.

that should get it working.
