Why wont the weather selection work in MP? Has CA/Sega blogged an excuse somewhere, or are they just waiting for us to get mad.

Why wont the weather selection work in MP?
Let's see:

1. It was designed that way on purpose.
2. Not enough time to make all the features in the game work.
3. Only a few customers care if that feature works.
4. The game is not for hardcore players.
5. The weather has no affect on battle parameters anymore.
6. It will cause lag.
7. Didn't get around to testing it.
8. It didn't make the "to do" list.
9. It's not a high priority.
10. It's too much work to fix it now.
11. Enabling that feature causes the game CTD.

You cannot change weather in those maps which can't deploy any settlement by default (maps with a grey "X").

It can be selected in the others, though.

This is a matter of CA making the most played map (Grassy FLatlands) and others set to permanent random weather. In a 3v3 if you get a thunderstorm there goes the game :dizzy2:

I think this is just another case of CA not listening to the MP people. I mean we prioritized it to be a HUGE concern that required little change, and they still did not do it. We even raised this issue to Pala who is my clans leader, and it was still not changed. Woot for CA.

That must be a bug; what kind of "feature" could it be?

I guess that pretty much sums up the usual explanations, actually, I feel much better now. Instead of one excuse, I got 12-- Thanks Yuuki! (Puzz) . . :juggle2:

I wonder if its possible to modify some map to make them clear weather only.
Grassy plains is a bit hard to play with changeable weather.

This was a problem in MTW as well, anyone remember how it always seemed to rain when temperate climate was hosted? Unfortunately we no longer have the arid climate work around.
Yellow Melon is right, if you start a battle on Grassy Plain and get a thunderstorm, best thing is to restart until it becomes fine

Is there any way to release a version of grassy flatlands that is modded to allow a settlement (and thus have changeable weather)?

I'm not sure as the only way i've ever modded maps is via the battle editor however Grassy Plains isn't on the campaign map, so not moddable that way. The best thing would be for someone to bring it up in the modders forum and see if there's another way to do it.

Another problem with this is not getting enough people to download the modded map so it would only be worthwhile for tournaments and amongst the most experienced players.
