Vatican City,1076,Papal States

The room was vast, a massive Church, a Cathredral in the honour of The Pope. There was nothing in this vast room, nothing but a throne. The person in that Throne was one of th most important people in the world. He was a king, but more then a king, a King of Kings. He was the Pope. the Christian World bowed to him, well most bowed to him. The Pope was a silent man, he did not talk. He only talked when the momet arived. The quiet air was piearced as the massive doors to the Cathredral opned with an creak, the pope did not even move. The person who entered walked up to the Pope, not looking at him. All of a sudden the Pope spoke,
"You may speak" he muttered,
The person knealt before him,
"My Holiness, we have the meeting in about 5 minutes, are you ready for the kings to come in?" the person whispered, he whispered so his voice did not reach the whole Cathredral.
"I am ready, they shall enter" the pope said wearily, the man knealing before him looked alarmed at the pope's tiredness, but followed the commands. he got up, still not looking at the pope, and walked up to the massive Cathredral doors. He then flung them open. The people which entered were the most powerful in Europe. Kings and Messengers from powerful countries. These countries were the most honoured by the Pope. Some entered with no escort, these were mainly the Messengers. The kings had bodyguards surrounding them, the Pope looked up. As he looked up the rest looked down, this seemed to annoy the pope, but he did not show he was annoyed for long.
"Freedom of Sight given" The Pope muttered, everyone one looked up, but the Pope continued talking,
"Why do you have Bodyguards in the Cathredral of the Pope himself? Do you perhaps think that the Pope would try and assasainate you? or perhaps your fellow comrades will attack you? Would they dare attack you in the Pope's sights? Think!" he yelled. All looked sorry, except for one.
"No Pope! I thought perhaps the Heretics might!" one king yelled. The Pope looked disbelieving, they dare speak without permission?
"And where are these heretics? NAME THEM!" the pope roared.

"Oh.. I will name them, I will name every single one, perhaps they should run?As they know whats coming..." he muttered. The pope looked at the king as if he was mad.
"Sit down, and that is an order. We are here to discuss one thing." he said, muttering at the end. Everyone leaned closer as he started whispering,
"Now listen closly, becasue I am not feeling the most well-" some people looked delighted for a second"- but the Holy land is in need of liberation. I think it is time we rised to the occasion take the Holy Land! Permission to speak" he whispered.
"Wonderful idea, but why now?" asked one king,
The Pope looked up at him,
"Your Country?" the Pope asked,
"England" the king replied.
"It is time because our world is finnaly uniting, it is time to regain what was once ours, shall you agree?" The Pope asked. A murmur of agreement went out, they agreed it was time, but who would join?
"Who shall join?' the pope asked,
They cried out,
All of them cried out, every European nation was on a Crusade, and finnaly, the last voice cried out.
"The Holy Roman Empire Will!" cried the Emperror, it was time for war.

1076,Prussia,Josef Estate
Franz Josef owned an Castle out on the old prussian lands of the Holy Roman Empire. He controlled that old castle and an small village, of about 1600. That and a small area surrounding him. his neighbours used to be an major state in the HRE but wars with Franz's Estate have lead to undo. Franz's estate was now a mjor contender in Prussia. But the Neighbours used to have Emissionarys from the Emperor himself calling him to war. This lead to jealousy in Franz's estate. That lead to anger, which lead to war. Franz won at the cost of lives. They were not as important but important enough for this new mission. Franz was dining in his room when a rider came riding yelling out aloud. It was around 6:00 in the moring by the way of the Sun. Franz could hear the village stirring as this rider made even more noise to awake them. Franz came sprinting down the stairs, drawing his sword on the way. On the way down he ran into someone,
"Uh,sir, there is this rider an-" he started, but Franz cut him short,
"I know, it is quite obvious from the noise!" he said sharply.
He ran the rest of the way and when he got there the rider was calmer. His eyes were bulging from excitement,
"sir....you...wont...belive this.... Pope...Crusade..." he said out of breath,
"Calm down rider, take a drink, then explain" Franz told him. Franz waited patiently while the rider caught his breath. The rider then explained all about the Crusade and the Pope's meeting, although details were limited, it seems a Crusade was happening.
"Well rider. when is the crusade?" Franz asked.
"I do not know sir but we need to get the army ready" he replied. Franz thought, and then decided on something.
He straightened up and looked at the rider,
"Go inside and rest, I shall talk to you later" Franz said.
The rider hurried off, then Franz went into the Castle,
"Squire!" Franz demanded. The short Squire came running down stairs.
"yes sir" he said.
"gather all Majors and get them to the War Room, NOW!" he yelled. The squire then raced off. Franz strolled into an room, apparently the War room. After a while some people came in, the majors.
"Good day Majors. I am sure you heard our conversation in the courtyard?" they all nodded,
Franz continued on,
" Well we have a choice of what settlement to take, what one? No worries, we shall think. Also, what path shall we take?" Franz asked. A major stood forward.
"And sir, what troops.." he said, what shall the Josef Estate do?

Decisions
1. Shall you get the army ready, Fast or slow?
Fast-If you get the army together fast, your neighbour may think you are going to attack him, he may strike you beforehand. While your preparing.
Slow-If you go slow, the Governor of prussia may get angry, and report your estate to the Emperror.

2. What settlement shall you take?
Antitoch- A good area but very hard to defend.
Cyprus Island-A good base for later offenses
Jerusalam-The main target of the Pope, it will please him, but extremly hard to get.

3.What path shall you take?
Through Byzantine- This shall be dangerous with the Byzantine Empire angry at Christian Remarks, they amy seize an Important State, you Estate!

Through the Aegan sea and the Medaritarrin(not spelt right)- pirates may attack your rather weak navy.

Around the Black Sea- very long but the pope and governor and Emperorr know your on the way, plus the safest way.

4. What troops shall you take?
Peasents-Easy to obilise but very weak.(You can take 5)
Militia Archers- Good but not as effective as professinal ones.(You can take 5)
Dismounted Feudal knights- Very good armour but long to mobilise(You can take 3 but no Lower ranks)
Roman Archers- Very good troops but longer to train(You can take 3 but no Lower ranks)
Cavalry
Mailed Riders-Simple and good peasents on horseback, with a little armour.(You can take 4)
Feudal Knights- Very good and effective, better armour and weapons but longer to mobilise(You can take 2 but no lower ranks.
Attilery
Catapult-A simple greek device, you may choose (You may take 2)

Think about it!
