Hi everyone,

Yet another IL topic in the modding questions section, but I was wondering if someone could tell me what determines the music in MII and how much variety it is possible to get.

It seems (from my extremely limited empirical data) that the game's music (in battles and on the campaign map) is somehow dependant on the type of terrain. I seem to get Arabian/Eastern style music when I'm in Asia and North Africa and European music when in Europe (which seems sensible enough) regardless of the player faction. Wasn't faction the only defining thing in Rome?

An ideal answer would include:

1. The number of music tracks used in the game.

2. The categories of music - e.g. in Rome there were, for battles, Tension, Mobilise, what I call Combat, Victory and Defeat and each one had 4-6 variations. In the campaign there were summer and winter and also a "battle intro" track.

3. The way the game chooses which music to play.

The reason I need this information is so my composer and I can finalise a track list for the mod.

Cheers in advance,
Ilsamir Lord
