UltraWar

Basic summary:

- The location of this game is a small town of Morningside. This village by day, is a peaceful town where nothing strange happens and is just like a normal town. At night, however, it holds a terrible secret. The (mafia) are members of the dark cult: "The Cabal" - worshippers of the forgotten god Tchernobog. The Cabal's main aim is world domination and to cause the Dark Ages to strike again. The era the game this game is set around is the late 19th century so the game will be revolving about that. Landmarks in this village include: The Morningside Mortuary, Miskatonic Station and it's famous train the Phantom Express, The Dark Carnival which contains the eerie House of Horrors, The Great Temple, The Sewage Works, The Abandoned Hospital, The Catacombs, The Lumber Mill, The Overlooked Hotel, Crystal Lake, Mall of the Dead, Public Storage, The Aqueducts, The Ruined Temple, The Dungeon, Boat Docks, The Old Opera House, The Gothic Library, The Graveyard, and of course, the Castle.

Rules:

- This game uses two cult members and one detective. The cult members get to kill two people a night no matter how many of them are alive, and the Detective gets to investigate one person a night. The Detective used to be a member of the cult before being left to die.

- Depending on the amount of people that sign up, I might add more cult members (but still keep two kills). This will be confirmed once the amount of players is known.

- No screenshots of anything please.

- Inactivity will be dealt with by the Wrath of God, so please stay active in this game to avoid this punishment.

- The Cult Members cannot disclose their roles to anyone aside from me or their partner(s).

- The Detective cannot reveal when dead, and must reveal to everyone at once, in the thread

Post here to sign up, the game will be starting in a couple of days.

Good luck everyone!

The Brightness of the Sun is no more. All is quiet in Morningside. But not for long. You see, life was cheerful in Morningside and everyone came out to celebrate the end of another uneventful day.

Byzantineknight had spent a long day in the town. He had spent the morning rushing from shop to shop and the afternoon relaxing in the local tavern, yet now as the day slowly drew to a close he found himself once again waiting for his train at Miskatonic Station. The train had always been exactly 10 minutes late. He scratched his nose gently as the train swam into view on the horizon, speeding down the track. Once again exactly 10 minutes late he thought to himself as he walked to the edge of the platform oblivious to the hooded figure creeping up from behind.

The train was just nearing the platform when it happened still speeding along at full pelt. Suddenly the figure moved quickly smashing his foot into Byzantineknight’s back, catapulting him onto the track just as the train entered the station. Blood splattered against the train as it slowly ground to a halt, the remnants of his body still being dragged under the train, limbs sprawled across the track. The stranger swiftly vanished.

The next day, Morningside Chief of Police UltraWar gathered the living villagers in the town to The Morningside Mortuary, in order to make an announcement. Once everyone was present and had quieted down.

"Gentleman," he started, "I am sure that you have heard of the 'untimely' death of ByzantineKnight. The Morningside Police Department has done some 'initial' investigations into the killing and it is believed that the killing was the result of a 'accidental' failure with the erm.... train. This tragic accident though needs someone to be held responsible."

"There are reports of a old cult rising from obscurity. These reports could be either true or a hoax. We will hunt for the members of this cult because of their Bloodthristy" ways."

"From now on until the cult is no more, we are going to have to kill all of you...." The Chief of Police paused as GeneralHankerchief whispered in his ear something inaudible. "Damn this village....we have to do things differently as this is a 'democracy'. You will each have a set amount of time to vote who you think is a cultist. Whoever gets the most votes will be executed 'in a painful manner'. Yes, I know that I am not revealing to you what the execution will be but it defiantly will be painful, yet entertaining."

Villagers, now is your time. Please vote for who you think is a cultist and....also who stole my Sprinkled Donuts! In 24 hours, the person with the most votes will be executed."

You continue to evade this:

By "setting the groundwork" I'm assuming you mean to propose that I deliberately didn't send in a kill to prove my innocence. Since one mafia did get the kill in, and since most people have been online, this is clearly not the case.

Not ethical to look, even at post activity, but ethical to vote on his activity. Not to mention that knowing that he usually uses invisible, would this not surrender him innocent from the inactivity that you accuse him of as a basis for your vote? http://www.freewebs.com/handbacon/33.gif

What missing vote?

Missing "kill" that you eluded to, I misspoke in stating "vote." But I doubt anyone thought I meant vote as opposed to kill as that was the only object in the discussion.

Going to bed and I never use invisible so don't anyone misconstrue my inactivity to shade their purpose...(name pun not intended)

Well you can't really use that as a reason. What if UW took a while to write the kills? etc. There are many other factors that could be reasons why the kills were late.

Following that short summary, I have to say another episode of the initial voting sticks out for me. Namely the sprinkled donuts. No, this is not due to any liking I may have for them, but rather that it smacks of the pizza pie reasoning I recall being used by Lemur in the orignal games. Not terrible because all Lemurs must die, no, but simply such repeated practice of grasping for any reason however inane may indicate guilt. [Especially as we are now able to abstain.] If this were a later stage in the proceedings, I might yet be inclined to vote for Andres, but it does seem too naïve a mistake.

Well, all my previous tactics as a townie ended up in getting me lynched while being innocent, so yet again, I am trying something new.

What's wrong with this reason, we all know Sasaki is always suspicious, the sooner you get rid from him the better. We all know that it's better for the mafia to preserve Sasaki for some time. You yourself posted that in Capo I think. And I did that in Midgard. Killing Sasaki early on in the game is stupid, he always draws 1 or 2 votes per round, votes that can't go to you. In Midgard we killed him midgame simply because he had no use anymore, I would do the same again, it's a winning tactic, I won in Midgard. :logic:

I don't know about GH's reasoning, but mine is this. What has Sasaki done thus far to be viewed as suspicious in your eyes? In this game?

I don't think I posted that, but I might have. Lynching someone for always being suspicious in other games is crap imo. If you can't show me any evidence from this game that makes him looks suspicious then my vote stands. If you can't let the other games stay in the past then that is sad.:shame:

Come on guys, Mafia VI is over, this is a new game. Enjoy it and have fun. Don't start calling each other idiots.

I reread the little conversation between Shades and Sasaki. Shades reasoning is a bit odd. Off course, if Sasaki would be a real suspect, Shades' paranoia would be justified, but this early in the game, you can't say Sasaki is a suspect. Besides, why would a mafioso not kill on purpose? It's a nice theory Shades, but this early in the game, it might as well sound like a made-up theory, acceptable by people who think Sasaki is always guilty and thus making them vote for him.

Actually you need to reread my reasoning for that vote. I did not suspect Sasaki of of not killing. I found his quick and unfounded vote for Redleg on the basis of inactivity suspicious. With no basis for the vote and his recent activity as an alibi, I see this as an attempt to put focus on a topic that was safe for him.

[edit] for summary

Seems like we have an explanation for the presence of only one kill.

Vote:Redleg since I haven't seen him around and he could have forgotten to pm the kill.

By what I saw, he was active at the time prior to the kill post.

I've avoided checking to see how recently someone was online since I can see through invisibility mode. In any case, my reasoning is clearly explained.

You'd think in leveling a direct accusation rather than a general question for discussion, you would have checked, regardless.

Not not really. Redleg usually uses invisible. Wouldn't be ethical.

Not ethical to look, even at post activity, but ethical to vote on his activity. Not to mention that knowing that he usually uses invisible, would this not surrender him innocent from the inactivity that you accuse him of as a basis for your vote?

No...

Well time to analalize this then....

1) I do agree with the Stig he is suiciding himself, i meen would a mafia actually try this? We should not lynch him this round however if his sucide is not allowed we should indeed go ahead and lynch him in my view.

Clearly Stig is merely overreacting [quite poorly] to what he perceives to be
unequal treatment dealt out over the course of a number of games. I see no
reason to lynch him, although given his attitude towards the game, I don't think
any action from us will be necessary. How others react to one member's rather
tedious running joke is not governed by the rules, so if no-one has acted in the
past against Csar for his behaviour, I see no reason to have a fit about it now.

If there was any clear thought process involved, surely it would be to vote to
remove the townsperson in question now. If they prove to be a member of the
mafia or cult [quite possible though I would think unlikely] then there is an added
bonus. As I have said I would change my vote in order to remove Csar, and I
see little wrong in indicating this clearly, without any long-running pettyness. I
do not believe my manner was overly abrasive.

Poor Stig, he was accused of the horrible crime of stealing the almighty sprinkled donuts. Doing so is punishable by death.

Stig thought carefully and remembered how life used to be...before the civil war which split a nation in two. He may be going down, but at least he won't be alone...

...the swarm of villagers around him quickly overwhelemd him and took anything he could use to defend himself. He was on the ground, defeated and defenceless. Somebody kicked him in the chest causing him to gasp and roll over onto the dusty ground.

The villagers, giving him no time to recover, lifted him up and pushed him over to the execution platform, where the Chief of Police UltraWar was finishing off a sprinkled donut. Stig shivered.

"Stig," he shouted at Stig, "You have hereby found guilty of theft and murder of my beloved donuts. Do you have any last words?"

Stig turned to UltraWar and smiled. It wasn't going to be so bad after all. He looked through the turban and noticed that there were no soldiers around the square and that he was going to be fine. After a moment of silence, Stig spat in UltraWar's face.

UltraWar was truly annoyed at this. "You are going to regret that so much....tie him up now"

Stig noticed two dark figures came out of the darkness and started to tie him up into some sort of wooden statue. It was around 100ft high and as the trial was in the middle of the field outside of town, it was going to be one hell of a celebration.

UltraWar signalled for the torches to be thrown into the statue and watched the slowly charring body of Stig burn into nothingness.

"He deserved what he got now let that be a lesson. No one escapes justice here"

Here is the vote summary for Round 1:

That's what I said all along. Guess the mafia already got their first free kill by ganging up on me.

And Difficult Name, it has nothing to do with Ichigo always voting for Sasaki early in the game, he can do that imo, but I'm not allowed to vote for anyone simply because it's me. Some games back they went after me because I made a bandwagon (hell one other voted for the same person), after that someone else voted for that person, and to him they didn't say he was bandwagoning, as he had a good reason.
Ichigo didn't allow me to vote for Sasaki, because he wanted Sasaki to survive, hell like my vote alone helps. Reenk voted for Sasaki only in Mafia VI afaik ... and never had a better reason then I now had. Why am I not allowed to vote for Sasaki once? Because that would be a mafia tactic? Bullpoo

Is Sasaki really that polarizing of an issue? No offence to Sasaki or anything, this is my first game here and it seems like the major discussion has focused on him. Basically 3 camps, the kind that vote for him just because they see his name and those who take great offence if his name is even mentioned and the third camping blowing in the wind to avoid the collective wrath of either of the first 2.

Or is this just bad blood from previous games?

an honest question...

Sasaki's play style (which began with Mafia II, back in July) has always been controversial. Basucally he may be an annoyance (especially if he latches onto you) but he does generate lots of discussion, which ultimately proves to be good for the town.

ShadeHonestus enjoyed working at the Boat Docks mostly as the work there was rewarding. The constructing of the wooden frame, the applying the metalwork and of course watching with glee when selling off one of the boats and watching the results of when the unsuspecting victim noticed that the boat sprung a nasty surprise, drowning them and pillaging their bodies. Oh how he wished he could do that again. Just then, a dark figure walked out from the darkness. He was wearing a greenish/black turban and had a sort of strange smile on his face. Honestus, thinking this was just another customer to rip off, started his routine of selling off a useless boat for over-the-top prices. While doing his pitch, he noticed his boot laces were undone. He bent over to tie them up when he got a deadly knock on the back of the head with a Club. By the time he woke up, he was tied up in his boat, had no oars and heading towards high waves containing salt water and Sharks. ShadeHonestus shivered at the coldness of the night as he noticed that his warm clothes mysteriously dissapeared and noticed that he was covered in some sticky substance. Noticing that the Sharks were getting closer, he gulped and hoped that they would finish him off quick...

Ichigo had spent the whole day in The Gothic Library, scanning through the mountains of books in search of the one that might bring him closer to finally solving the murders. Ichigo in exasperation finally decided to give up he slammed the book shut, slitting his index finger as he did. He quickly rushed to the toilets to clean the freshly made wound. Bending over the sink he began to wash the wound oblivious to the masked figure slowly opening the cubicle door. Drawing a knife abruptly the figure drove it into Ichigo’s back. Ichigo fell face first into the urinal, cracking his skull again the metal. The figure smiled as he again buried the knife into Ichigo’s neck. Slowly the figure snuck away.

The next day, UltraWar gathered the villagers to The Morningside Mortuary, in order to make an announcement.

"Friends, it seems that ShadeHonestus has mysteriously 'disappeared' off the face of the earth and Ichigo was discovered dead in the toilets with a bottle of 'Cruo'. This seems to be the doing of the cult. We all know that Honestus was shady in his business and caused the 'accidental' deaths of hundreds of villagers. Ichigo, though is a different matter. He was a respected member of the town and I will stop at nothing to trace the killer of this great, upstanding citizen."

UltraWar took a bite out of his Raspberry Donut and continued to talk.

"We will need to vote again to lynch someone for these murders. This time, the death will be sweet. I know that some of you didn't enjoy the Wicker Man burning but, hey! There is more ways to save the town. Even though AndresTheCunning was against it, isn't that right? Wait a minute, where is he? Oh well, cast your votes now"
