Could someone expert take a look at the settlement files, and consider how moddable they could be? Those of you who know me know that I can do some quality stuff, if only I could combine M2TW's amazing geography engine with the ability to place my own buildings and settlements (as I could with RTW).

Meh, maybe Caliban can shed a bit more light on this but from what he told me, they are pretty complicated (iirc what happens is that you create blocks in 3dsmax, and these blocks are later assembled to buildings and whole cities - you can see that in work if you destroy buildings with siege engines, for example towers collapse independently).
I figured that they also use some kind of archiving mechanism (like the packs) to store stuff in these files, and it'd be pretty hard to crack the whole shebang.
I have no idea how the geography is handled right now.

Anyways, if it's possible to crack it, I guess modding them would be a lot more interesting than in RTW

The archive the small blocks are compiled into seem to be the .world files in the settlements folder, looks to contain both geometry data and references to textures along with some other stuff.
