Crusaders SHOULD be an add on!

it would be cool, in the main menu chooce japna war or europe war and all the units can be put together for the online battle with all maps and such! that would be sweet, then we wouldnt have to leave this game.

Damn you Anssi! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif You moved this and opend up the Crusader Forum as I was writing this post. Thankfully I copied it when I was told that the thread was now closed, instead of having to re-write the whole thing

I think that they should institute a subscription model in addition to making it a free download as Erado suggested. They will pay us $1 US for every game that we play.

And since both they and EA will go broke with this new pay-to-play model, they should also give away their source code. That way all of the little crackers running around here can mod the game to their hearts content and start using those mods online so that their Kensai (or WarCraft peasant, or AOE knight or whatever) can run around like RoboCop killing anything and everything on the battlefield with impunity.

Boy........doesn't that sound like fun?

Youz guyz are gonna drive yourself bananas over the next decade... drooling in anticipation over a game that does not yet exist while ignoring that which you have right before you!

Pretend your little Buddhist Monk is really unit of crack Assault Cardinals, your Heavy Cavalry are knights, and your Ashigaru are lynch mobs on the loose and you can fantasize about 'Crusades' while playing Shogun!

Me wonders how they will portray the whole religion thing, since that is a touchy subject for so many fanatics out there. I was 'spotted' by a fanatic once wearing a t-shirt with a pic of the devil lighting an angel's cigarrette with his finger... the bigot just yelled at me from across the street saying I was going to burn in Hell for such 'blasphemy'! Perhaps he didn't notice the large pumpkin I sport as a head -- it usually gives me away as not being of the 'alive' crowd! Well, I'm sure there will be many fanatics and zealots out there that will find the Crusaders game offensive and blasphemous, and to some, youz might even become a 'heretic' for playing it!

But then again, we must all thank those narrow-minded morons of the past for the one true invention they have been credited for giving mankind: the barbecue!

Which brings up an interesting question: in Crusaders, will you be able to roast envoys, heretics, etc at the stake at your whim?

They'll love this game! A chance to right the wrongs of history and actually hang on to the Holy Land while crushing the infidels under their hob-nailed boots and putting their women to the sword after having their way with them? What could be more glorious to the fanatics?

And you thought that people went overboard with Honor in Shogun!

We'll just forget the fact that the original reason the Crusades were mounted was strictly for political gain. The Pope was losing control as the various Houses and Orders, let alone Kingdoms were becoming too rich and powerful.

What better way to drain off their revenue stream and keep them out of your way than to call for a Crusade into a far off land on religious pretext in order to keep everything under your control. Those who didn't choose to go of their own accord were compelled to do so upon pain of excommunication.

We won't even talk about some of the atrocities that were committed during the Crusades (ie the sack of Constantinople during the 4th Crusade and the TRUE reasons for it).

No Vanya, there is no way that Shogun will be able to compare to Crusades from a fanatics perspective.......
