Ok guys u asked and here it is.

i just got a copy of pcgamer in the uk there is a 4 page spread as was previously mentioned ill try to give u the best information i can, ok it says the most dramatic change is that their will be 60 unit types!! and the nations u can play are england, the holy roman empire, france, christian spain the papacy, poland, the norsemen, the bazantine empire, the russian principalities and the islamic almohad!!!ok another big change will be seiges the attacker will be able to purchase artillery and catapults to reduce the walls to rubble, the defender will have options like the archer tower ramparts and artillery towers!! gone it says is the 'simple' honor sytem there will be rpg charecteristics in the game ie govenors, princesses, cardinals, diplomats, papal envoys, heretics, witchfinders, inquisitors, philosiphers and (famous artists???)these all over time gain virtues and vices, it also says it will let u choose these virtues/vices when u gain one and you are in control of the development of your character.btw guys the screen shots look good and the catles look superb, in the campaign selection screen i can see different campaign modes full campaign, early crusadeshigh crusades late crusades there is a slider bar and the rest are unshown, well thats it guys there more historical information but i guess u guys know all that also the map seems to cover most of europe!!

As far as i know the campaign is still turnbased otherwise they would have mentioned it as for units it talks of shock heavy knights so that may be the cavalry u speak of it says the turks have fast troops and good artillery there will be cannons later in the game for seiges and catapults also longbowmen pikemen and shot armies??? also in the pictures i see cavalry with lances and knights on foot or at least i think they are knights lol

It's likely that Mongol invasion and GD will be combined, and the Mongol slot used for a forum on the Crusader game, but this is not absolutely certain yet, depends on what Dan and Anssi decide. As to icons you'll have to wait and see :0

k. sounds to me like stw is going to meet europa universalis in crusaders. nice. hope they do the best aspects of both.

magy, we already know that yer secretly mr. de Plater, so dont try and fool us any more with posts about how you 'influence' things ;)

now, here's a new thought...anyone considered the multiplayer names and foyer and so on? somehow john the baptist yamamoto isnt going to work too well. will there be a new separate server or all games in the one foyer, or perhaps a main meeting/chat room with separate sub-windowed regional/period servers under the main? i kinda like the last idea best. paging will need to be expanded to include messages also. and a search for player feature would be nice as well...is my friend online? search [friend name].

simplest forum arrangement is stick the mods with tech support, if you really need the space, and keep GD as it is...it's GD. it will include ALL current releases. crusaders is at least a year off yet, so MI when it comes out goes as part of GD and take the mongol forum and make it the crusaders speculation forum ;) japanese history becomes world history and off topic becomes the babiest babe/shameless forum ;) quite simple really.

I never liked the chat room setups for STW. But on battlenet all the games are connected together (starcraft, warcraft bnet, diablo 1 and 2) and everyone from each game can talk to each other and so on. It would be cool if the TW series did that as well, but it would depend on many things. First things first, they would have to change a lot of things on the old chat rooms, with a patch or something. I'm sure the names would be one of many problems they would have to solve before making this possible :P

I'm not egotistical enough to try starting a new topic on my first post, but this doesn't seem to have been mentioned, so this seems to be the best thread to add to. I apologise if this has already been discussed here.

I was reading over the PC Gamer item, and noticed something interesting. Although the article itself refers to the time span as being four centuries, and the events mentioned would fit nicely into this length of time - from the start of the First Crusade in 1096 to the end of the reconquista in 1492 - the screenshot of a campaign start screen, mentioned elsewhere in the thread, seems to suggest that something else is or was being considered.

Specifically, the shot shows a map of Europe, from southern Scandinavia to the north coast of Africa, going far enough east to include the whole of the Black Sea; a list of game periods; a country desciption; and a picture of the ruler.

This screen is obviously incomplete, but what is shown is interesting; 'Full Campaign' is highlighted, and the selected country on the map has roughly the same territory as France, but the name in the description area is Burgundy.

The interesting part however, is that the name under the ruler portrait is 'King Charles Martel'. As an eighth-century leader (689-741), his presence might indicate that the game is going to cover a much longer period of time, either in the main game, or perhaps more probably in mini-campaigns, as they did in Mongol Invasion. Or they could just be putting out dubious screenshots to encourage premature speculation, but still - we live in hope.

Anyway, I rather like the notion of covering a lot of time. Hmmm... any chance of including the siege of Malta?

regarding the time period:
The first Crusade may have taken place in 1096, but I don't think the title "Crusades" implies that only the time of the Crusades is covered. I certainly hope it's going to start earlier, so we are able to play vikings ;o)
Since - I think - "Norsemen" (don't remember the exact word mentioned in the preview) will be included in the game, and they didn't have much impact on the Crusades, the time frame must be larger (or start earlier) than the the "real" 1100-1500 timeperiod
