The basic story plot:
Its the year 10.000 BC, some of the dinosaurs managed to survive whatever nature and the universe could throw at them,
however a new threat has arisen: Humans. You must fight as either the species that has ruled this earth for millions of years
or take the mamals and lead them to world domination.

Gameplan:
I will do all the graphical work myself any help is appreciated though. First I will create several different dinosaurs and later
on the humans. Once I have finished enough graphical content I will balance and release it as a beta.
If all goes well there will be a campaign after that which will most likely feature a part of North-America.

Gameplay:
There are 3 Main factions, later on maybe be divided in smaller subfactions: Human tribes, Herbivores and Carnivores. Humans will have a large number at their disposal and must rely on their evolving brains and tactics, while the Herbivores and Carnivores are less numberical (espescially the Carnivores).
Carnivores rely on a mix of brute force, stealth and some of them on grouptactis. Herbivores rely on their herd attitude to keep themselves safe and sometimes brute force to stay alive.
In the campaign humans will be fairly aggressive, Carnivores very aggressive and Herbivores will hardly pick a fight.
Campaigngoals: Humans must take out all Herbivore and Carnivore factions, Carnivores must kill all human tribes and take the valleys and Herbivores must keep hold of all the valleys*.

It will be a really tactical game cause you have to fight to get food so you can survive, food will basicaly replace money. Carnivores have to venture out of their nests to get food, their nests usually have a negative food balance.
Humans get a small amount of food from their settlements and have to fight to get some extra food.
Hebivores have a surpluss of food and dont have to fight for food at all.
Valleys play a huge roll in your survival efforts, they are lush and have a great huntingground. Anyone should try and take these valleys for it will help them greatly.

I dont know if this can work but every fight should bring in food for Humans and Carnivores depending on how large the casualties the more food you get, conquering other nests/settlements will only give you an amount of food when you take it over. No great profits after that.

A small compilation of units I aim to make, I expect it to change.

Very original idea. :2thumbsup:
I certainly want to see the animation for your velociraptor model, how it moves.
Making that you could check what kind of alterations should be done to M2TW skeletons in order to make your animals move naturally. Though we can't edit M2 skeletons right now, hopefully in future it will be possible.

Custom skeletons are necessary ofcourse but I read custom skeletons were possible in this version of the TW series.

Please explain what you mean Kruniac, I will not allow people to demean peoples projects. If the post is innocent please explain so.

Fail.

I don't see how you can be so sure this mod will fail. Obviously it is very ambitious, but mac89 is clearly not a n00b and appears to be a talented modder as he as already created the faction symbols as-well as a completely new model, which is extremely difficult to do. Good luck with this mod BTW!

Well all I can say is good luck and hope this mod makes it. It will be a massive project and hope you have a team. This mod looks like it will be good, fun, and something new.

This looks cool . This mod also makes me wish someone was tackling a bronze age mod .

Awesome Idea, i'll help out if you want. I can do most 2D art related stuff. Either way, awesome idea and good luck!

The Raptor's looking good so far!

*NERD MODE*
It's probably completely irrelevant, but "Brontosaurus" never existed, as it was erroneously named from the jumbled up bones of Camarasaurus and Apatosaurus, but I thought I'd point it out and make sure it's a conscious decision rather than an oversight.
*NERD MODE*

In any case, it's a fantasy mod so you can do what you like, and "Brontosaurus" is just such an awesome name.

Some ideas:

If you want to fill out the dino's unit roster, you might want to consider making "base" dinosaurs which can then be altered with some geometric changes.

For example, if you make a base Carnosaur (8 feet tall, 25 feet long or so), you can then make a few more with small changes:

Megalosaurus (base carnosaur)
Ceratosaurus (add a horn)
Carnotaurus (Shorten the arms and head, add horns)
Dilophosaurus (Double crest, make it more slender)
Cryolophosaurus (add the cool comb crest)

Change the skin colour/patterns, and voila, you have a lot of variety from just one model!

If you do something like this, you could even take normally very similar creatures and give them different colours and change their stats to make new beasties:

Saurophaganax/Mapusaurus/Carcharodontosaurus/Giganotosaurus/Tyrannotitan

Or just take one of the originals and scale it up/down accordingly:

Brontosaurus/Cetiosaurus/Seismosaurus/Supersaurus/Amphicoelias(if you're feeling particularly adventurous.

Good luck, and have fun!
