About Medieval Total War that contains some new info and hints of the large scope of the next installement of the Total War series.

Seems quite ambitious, seems like they are shooting for an excellent game. You must read this.

If you find other news concerning the game, please start a new thread and post the link in this forum.

Seems to follow exactly the same structure as STW...just on a greater more advanced level...it could be the ultimate game if they pull it off http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I noticed that CA ditched EA for Activision... perhaps there is a reason for that...?

I think that is why we used the word "seems".

well at least with all these armies it will take a long time to find game where the game is unbalanced, its all just a tactic to throw us off the scent for a month or three http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

but I think '100 unique unit types' will probably include 60 different variations on 'Spearmen' with different oloured hair or something http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

I'm going to have to disagree with the last couple of posts guys. I have no doubt that we'll probably see several different types of archers (english longbow, etc) and each will have their own troopstats and projectiles.txt entries that will individualize them. We'll probably see the same thing with Pikemen/Swordsman as well as the different varieties of Cavalry. I'm also going to hazard a guess and say that not all units will be available to each of the 12 playable factions. I can't imagine playing as the English and riding around Brittany with camel-mounted Saracens (although I'm sure Vanya could! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif ).

Ijontychi, you have to remember that Cossaks was nothing more than an AOE cra... I mean clickfest, clone. Medieval will start with the TotalWar engine. They are building the game starting with what we already have.

The biggest complaint that the community has had about STW since it was released was the lack of a strong diplomatic model and the lack of tactical seiges. From the screenshots I saw today and the rumors flying around faster that a fly on steriods, those issues will be remedied for Medieval.

Sure Magy has a point about CA hyping things. It's been done by CA in the past where promises were made that they were unable to follow through on for whatever reason. On the other hand, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt considering how much they have already accomplished and look forward to hearing more details as they come closer to going gold.

You all have to remember that they aren't building this game from scratch like they did with STW. They are starting with where WE are now with Mongols v1.02 and are building from there!

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

OH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Obake, The tactical battle engine of Shogun Total war is the best of it's kind but the strategic map side of the game had a lot of room for expansion/improvements ( even thouught i enjoyed it also.

Some of the pics shown of the strategical maps leaves me to speculate that this part of the game will have much more depth than the first two installements.

Some examples: - Marrying off your daughters for strategic alliances. -5 different types of faith/religion (six if you count "heretics"). -Sea and land trade
-12 playable "clans"= a lot more alliance/political games.

As for the battle engine, the castles and the siege weapons look great, and they too will add more depth to the strat side of the game.

yes, yes, I was particularly surprised by the caption that had the "you can no longer marry this daughter, she is too old" thingy. The different types of faiths look promising too. (were those two crosses Catholic vs Protestant?)
