I bet they will all just be peasants with knives http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif I dont think there were any "ninja-like" units in europe but then I have forgotten a lot of things

the failure rate better be higher..

i also hope that this part of the game is expanded on. because as it is. it is very point and click.. not much depth

It was very point and click wasn't it... and also the success/failure rate was a little wrong. You did kill a few to many enemy generals/heirs/daimyo.

Hope they see this over here.

THe word assassin, comes from this period it was used to describe an Islamic sect living in desert fortresses who would go on suicide raids to kill of prominent enemies. THey were called the hasisheen (apologies for the probable mispelling) after thheir habit of smoking hasish to get so Dutch courage.

assassins have existed almost as long as we've had rulers. i doubt we'll see anything like battlefield ninja, but certainly, part of diplomacy has always been a swift knife, arrow, bolt or poison through a king's/queen's heart. i mean, how could we depict medieval europe without some of that.

What about another aspect: wiches, dark magic, and godly force that comes to earth!

I know it sounds a bit... ehh.. well.. but if very limited, maybe it could be fun!!

Hmmm wiches and dark magic aren't real but there are stories in Byzantine history when the cities main armies were fighting the Turks l think the Arabs broke the agreement they had with the Byzantines and attacked the city. The few defenders were holding but it was a lost case since they were a shitload more times that the defenders. Also liquid fire helped the defenders a lot. The entire Arab army fled by viewing a figure hovering above the city walls!!!
Residents of the city thought it was the mother of Jesus(Marry) or Panagia in Greek.
Hmmm l don't know if this will be a good think to add gods and things since is not realistic. This is not Black and White man!!

Well i guess we will have witches or heretics because it seems we will have witchfinders in the game. "Sometimes rebellion and heresy go hand in hand, and you'll need the services of a Witchfinder." (From medieval.com, the official site)

The best ninja death was the one where you tried to assassinate the Mongol general, your death was pretty cool

This is very OT but please, Sjakihata
Akechi-san, tell me that the place where you're from is fantasy or factual.

Just to stay on-topic I don't think there was a "faction" or "society" of assassins in Europe(key word here) circa 11th cent. Just the good 'ol coins-into-a-bag-given-to-his/her-cook will do just fine.

'Suh Kuma' don't forget that they said Joan of Arc was burned at the stake by the english because she was a 'heretic'. But that was later 1400's. Yet I think I heard that she would be in the game for some reason or another.

Therefore agreeing with your earlier point witches and witchfinders will play some sort of role in the game.(that is if CA remember she was burned!)

The other post on assassins talked about the Muslim Sect in the Middle East feared by almost everyone (except the Mongols it seems). This sect was almost destroyed by the mongols. But no sects of assassins in Europe that I know of (yet!).

It seems to me that Witchfinders will play a role, though they do not mention witches. I have a feeling that the Witchfinder will likely be similar in role to the Shinobi - at least in the role of maintaining loyalty in your provinces.

I wish they could have named it something else though.

I really hope they do not include "witches". Especially not as some sort of insurrection building or black magic unit. The real witches of the time were really just the local "wise women"/healers, usually pagan. As far as black magic...I agree with "theforce", that was mostly just superstition.

there must have been plenty of people in the time who would kill someone if you paid them. you know what i mean.
