Ok after checking out the gallery (finally! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif) I saw that we no longer use koku,surprisingly. The Money now in use are

florins??? yep thats right you buy your milk in florins you pay for information with florins and you pay your troops with women... no wait i mean florins :0!

Infact I have never heard of koku now.. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

I'll let you get back to your fun lives now oh yeah one for thing the Papal states are in this new game (directed at Shades MTW website) if you notice in the strategy section of the gallery at totalwar.com you'll see their name on one of the provinces!

I've just noticed that in 1087 the french have 6000 florins yet the first picture says that England have 481137 florins in 1093 so their are some cheats for this game. Honestly those CA guys have to cheat aswell they made such a good game!

Won't the the vast differences in cultures involed use different currency or is florins the new koku really.........

In one of the strat map pictures it says "Much Gold" on the place where the florins are supposed to be! WELL DONE CA! Now we ALL know the money cheat http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif

HHMM i don't think it covers all of Italy, another of the strategy maps says the Pope has asked you to cease your war with the Italians...

So I simply don't know.

It's good that they only use one currency. Otherwise I agree with evilc they would have to put an in gae currency converter so you could work stuff out...

They were i think actually fairly standardised in temrs of currency,Certainly there are English references to marks and florins. THe Austrians had schillings until recently as we here had shillings. So it's not hrtat unrealisitc to have everyone have the same currency. It was all based on a standard gold/silver content, the economics of the period were not complex enough for different currencies to really exist, no exchange rates, inflation didn't really exist until the end of the period, and rather like the Romans they had major trouble when it did occur because they didn't understand and recognmise the problem

Simple resolution.

Have all the countries have their own currency (its just a name change) since you are only one country and trade you can just assume that you see the end result (if any trade exists). Could use a SQL table reference etc

1 Florin = 1 schilling = 1 mark etc...

It becomes just a nice detail and the actual numbers keep identical.

Bloody Euro's don't like them personally they look ugly. But the Euro idea is good. Just hope it works otherwise the whole of Europe will have super inflation like they had in Italy with the Lira!

Me figures all local currencies have their exchange rate fixed during game play so that all monetary affairs can be expressed in a single currency: that of some dusty hole in Italy somewhere... Venice or Florence?!? GAH!

There are no dollars here matey! Only Euros. Oh and the mighty Pound Sterling. When the Euro crashes and burns (did I say when? I meant if...or did I mean when?)the pound will be strong and the whole of Europe will look to us to help them through the darkage that will be super inflation MUAHAHAHAHAHA!
