Apparently in MTW units will be able to smash into eachother as they colide. This will be a nice feature for shock troops I'm sure.

Maybe this also means that a deeper formation of units, 15 for example, can push it's way through a formation of 5 men deep.

Some nice thigns there. We have no idea of how complec that feature will be mate. I hope that unit depth makes some differences rather then able to hold for more time. It could reduce the morale of cavalry and stop it dead.

Plus of course if you're going for a smash you're going to have to significantly reduce you're frontage and be very vulnerable to flanking and encircling.

voltage,

explain. how is this different from the current stw/we/mi? something more catastrophic?

I think it means that say a unit of lancers will be able to smash through a unit of bowmen, ie if they charge in wedge formation, their momentum may carry them though and out the otherside. Presumably combined with the effect discipline is going to have on the integrity of formations this could well have massive morale effects and destroy some units caught out very quickly, or conversely mean that they may sometimes suffer less damage as enemy horse pass straight though, rather than hitting a brick wall as they do now and stopping for melee.

But doesnt it do that already? The other day one of my HC crashed straight through a SA formation... well it is HC

No STW doesn't do this.

I think adding physics like this might even allow units to push there way through the enemy, as the romans and greeks did.

oh, ok. that would be pretty cool then. thanks for the clarification.

If would be cool if one unit could broke in the middle and be devided and stuff like that. Well we will have to wait again http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

I really like the idea of a smashing cavalry impact. We are talking about the heaviest cav there ever was.
