Hmmmm the music will be different l think. The music this time will be harder to make cause each country MUST have it's winning and loosing music etc. It will be a hard game to make the music for in my own opinion.

Indeed I do read the forums so that I can see what people wanna hear in the game, and what they do and don't like in the previous versions.

The music in MTW is difficult, due to the large number of cultures in the game. We compromised and decided to go with a generic "Arabic" music and "European" music, to try and cover the overall cultural styles of the game, and so that we could get it all done in time.

If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the sound and music in the game, post it in this forum.

If you're interested, check out my website at www.dnama.com (http://www.dnama.com)

Cheers,
Jeff

PS.
The Camels turned out great (we found a camel farm nearby)...they sure make some strange noises!

Gah!

If the music in MTW is as good as the music in Shoggy, Krast is sure everyone will be vry pleased.

It is very nice work.

If you want to make "arabic sounds" please use the sound of a "nay", the oriental flute. It sounds fantastic and was available both in the arabic part (e.g. egypt) and the minor asia (mesopotamia and anatolia).

I donĀ“t know if it was available in the midage but the march music of the ottoman empire the socalled "Mehter Marshmusic" could give you some impressions as well. Just listen to it.

Do you have an example? Or know where I can hear some "Mehter Marshmusic"

I think it is searchable if you just type "mehter"

in servers such as

Audiogalaxy, WinMX or Morpheus.

If your research fails, please notify my here.

TheForce...I use Logic Audio to create all of the sound and music in the Totalwar series. I do a bit of editing using Peak as well. Both of these apps I use on my Mac.

Cheers,
Jeff

Same program for the sound effects too. Plus a portable DAT recorder to record outdoor sounds (like camels).

I think the only music I didn't like in STW was the Mongol Mobilize tracks. They didn't have that "traditional music" feel that were in the other tracks and didn't seem to fit in with the atmosphere of the game. I would have loved to hear more Tuvan throat singing http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

All the other music and sounds were superb.

Just watched the MTW movies on GameSpot, which include what I assume is some of Mr. Van Dyke's music & sound fx. Eerily beautiful, especially in the European scenes. And I really liked what I think were new arrow sounds. I swear I could hear the flights rustling past the bow. Can't wait to hear what a charging camel sounds like. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
