what factions will be in M:TW ? what u think ?

my guess is :

1.England
2.France
3.Holy Roman Empire
3.Byzantine Empire
4.Christian Spain
5.Muslim Spain ( Almhoad Empire )
6.Mongols
7.Hungary
8.Saracens
9.Turks ( Seliuks & Otomans -smthin like Imagawa/Tokugawa in S:TW)
10.Poland/Lithuania
11.Papacy ( i dont see why...or maybe some city-states..)
12.Kingdom of Jerusalem

...and non-playable city states;i think with some of them u ll interact ( examples http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gifenmark;Burgundy;Portugal;Scotland;Serbia;Russian principality; Sicily and more...) and other like ronins in the S:TW

You r very close their to what I also think.

However, I dont think Jerusalem will be in, that will probably be Russia.

and then theirs the fact that you have 13 factions not 12. (you have two threes)

so I also dont think that Hungary will be in, and the papacy will be Italy,

BTW this will be the only reply you get, as there is an active thread open on this point, and this one will be closed.....

Sorry m8.

Hungry will be in it I think! They had to put up with the Monols invading their cuntry all the time. It coul be a possibility that the Mongols are an un-controllable faction. They simply invade certain 'zones' of Europe at certain times. The mongols were nt eally Europe, thats te whole point I think, they were stopped because of deaths of th Khan and just simply could't beat all of Europe!(sorry magy 'n' Kocmoc) So maybe Mongols are not in it. Who knows...

Here's the link to the original thread about this subject
http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000043.html

To find a thread you can always use the search option menu that
you can find at the upper right corner of this page.

The thread fizzled out over 6 weeks ago, so i'm leaving this thread open. I would have closed it if the old thread was active or near active (on the first page).

So post on dudes!!!!! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Indeed I passedover this area, but are you completely sure this area of Europe will be present in the strategic map? As I recall (vague) there was nothing amazingly important occuring in this area of Euope at this time. Therefore the need to input it is limited. Was this game firstly caled Crusader TW. Crusades are more South Eastern Euope in occurence, and England,Spain,HRE,France,Italy,Byzantines but not so much the western half of present day russia and the baltic states. The Caucasus is present day Georgia and Armenia no? (just trying to place it on the world map in my head http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif) This area maybe a little too far East for Medieval Europe. Remember 'The Holy Land' was not considered Europe and the Caucasus is further East than the Middle East.
True the mongol have been included but still I feel they will be as an event not a faction. But possibly they will be a playable faction aslo in the MP or custom battle modes. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

a lot of amazing things happend there Toda especially after the mongol conquest ; Georgia was a proudy powerful kingdom and an big ally of the byzantines; also the wars between lithuanian and teutonic knights were quite a party
also there were a lot of italian comercial cities very rich and powerful;i dont say that the game big map will end at the Ural mountains but if the western scholars didnt know much about these part of the world this doesnt means that big things doesnt happend;
mongol are very important for that part of history ;also medieval history as science doesnt make any diffrence betweem geographical part of the world..its just ..medieval

ok man just chill......mellow out. LOL as i said i had a vague understanding of the area. I never heard about much that went on their at that time. Possibly because im British and its not my home area. But also its not an area of the World that iam inclined to study.

Obviously I hope they do add it in, and make some historical accuracy so that we can learn about it, but has anything major such as 100 years war, crusades happened. We hear about colonisation yet Georgia is not one of the major states envolved in it. But I will bow to your wisdom as I know next to nothing on this specialised subject.

Oderint dum metuant

Let them hate so long as they fear

Comes from a Roman poet L. Accius, quoted by Cicero, originalyly in the play Atreus, who was father (or grandfahtre) of Agamemnon leader of the Greeks in the Trojan war. Unfortunately the phrase has apparently been picked up by the Neo Nazi movement in the US, which is rather undesirable, but if others don't use it they get ot keep it to themselves. I picked it up during some rather interesting moderating issues a few months ago.

Bis peccare in bello non licet

It is not permitted to err twice in war.

Where that comes from I can't remember

What can I say. Prester John was the subject of the first sob story chain letter, like those ones about the Tajikisthani boy with no legs leprosy and a poxed herd of goats. Prester Johns problem was that he was a king of a Christian kingdom assailed by infidels on all sides. The first case would have elicited no sympathy from your average medieval monarch, the second evidently did as the spent the 12/13th century forwarding hte letter to one another to get him some help.

Why can't you guys tell us the 12 playable faction now?

If you do can, please post them here!

Thank you!

Yes I know but still I find this silly! Why can't we know the true 12 playable factions so we would stop being ridiculous by guessing in the dark!

To me it's like when you play with your dog but you never let the poor soul cach that bacon.Right now I feel like the dog and I'm wondering how long I'll be interested in that bacon!

so, do you think there will be one grand campaign with 12 playable nations that spans 400 years?
I though somebody was speculating that there will be a few smaller campaigns spanning 100 years, and in those playable nations may be different?
Is this true?

Sir Kuma of The Org
02-19-2002, 06:25
Yes to question one and two. The player will have the choice to play the big 400 year time span campaign or one of the 3 time period campaigns.

Sir Kuma of The Org, thanks a lot for the information.
That is extremely interesting.
So the crucial question is this:
will those 3 campaigns have the same playable countries?

That i don't know, sorry.
