The April issue of Computer Gaming World includes a 2 page shot of M:TW. The scene has a walled town under siege by a large force. The town, the army and the engines look great. The troops up close though do not do justice to the game IMO. I would have used a different shot that did not involve a close up.

For us in the choir the picture looks splendid. However, the knights in the foreground look too pixilated to appeal to a vast audience who will compare the graphics to other RTSG's and may find Total War wanting in this regard. More than one person I've showed the game to has told me that the troops don't look good enough viewed up close. To be honest, Shogun has always looked its' best with some distance between viewer and army because the relative simplicity of the sprites makes the impressive grand panoramas possible. Depending on one's focus, the CGW picture can be seen as flattering or critical.

The units can't bein full 3-d and very detailed because 10,000 such units on screen would not be playable neither on a NASA computer.

Shogun already has a 3-d working and strategically important terrain and that's great.

Pick Ground Control. Super graphics at the expense of not so much big armies.
Pick Cossacks. Crap graphics but armies up to 8000.
Pick Shogun. Great graphics (everything but the unit sprites, maybe) and enermous armies.

NASA got a computer update a while ago. Their system has 192GB of RAM. Now that would be cool http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Anyway is only to render the satellite information http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Nasa has the so called super computers and are not availble in public(even if they are they tend to be expensive)i wonder if Ultra Realistic games could be made on them...
