I have been contemplating different mods for Medieval 2. So far I am just learning about different aspect of modding and haven't ventured past editing some unit stats.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in collaborating on the projects outlined below.
I think the end mod would be a slightly simpified version of M2:TW... Feel free to add your comments and opinions...

Medieval 2: Warlords
M2:TW mod based on Warlords game. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warlords_(game_series)
Objective:
To create a new version of Warlords game using the M2:Total War engine.
The mod will reflect the original gameplay of Warlords using the state of the art graphics of M2:TW.
Why?
The original Warlords released in 1990 offered similar gameplay to M2:TW. It was a simpler game than M2:TW, but offered more of a RPG element. The heroes could travel the land, recruit allies from supernatural creatures and collect items that made them more powerful in battle. The focus was strictly on the military, with no options for economy.
The economy could be slightly augmented by allowing the cities to invest in ports and merchant buildings.
Additions to M2:
- searchable ruins and temples
- mystical units (Demons, Angels, Dragons etc.) acquired through questing
- mystical weapons and armour (in Warlords it would be dropped by a dead hero)
Suggested changes to existing M2 balance
- a new map similar to the original Warlords
- no gunpowder units
- no civilian units (Merchant, Spy, Priest, Assassin)
- increase the siege difficulty
- changes to names and quantity of players to reflect the original Warlords
- heroes no longer die of natural causes
- modified quests (search for items, visiting temples etc.)
Suggested changes to original Warlords:
- economy expanded (use of ports and buildings to create revenue)
- partial fog of war
Tools
- VB tools for easy editing of units, cities etc.
- map editor
- battle map edited or imported from original M2:TW
