View Full Version : How to Create Land Bridges?

I've looked at the maps in /world/base folder of EB, but can't seem to figure out how you have added the landbridges.

I've tried to create one between N Africa and Iberia without any success, by changing the region, ground types and map heights files.

I looked at map features but could only see rivers, bridges and volcanoes.

Any help would be great!

Yes likewise.

I've tried joining 'squares' at the corner in the 'regions' file, but it does not seem to work between N Africa and Iberia for some reason.

Perhaps it's the placement of the wonder near the coast in Iberia?

I have no clue why it won't work, when in theory it should.

On a related note does any one know how to get rid of land bridges? I tried getting rid of the Sicily-Italy one in the 'regions' file but nothing happened (I also deleted the map.rwm FYI).

Alterations to the coastlines in the map can't be made in just one file. There are alot of files that have to be changed.

Also map.rwm should be deleted if you want to have them to work. You might want to back it up tough, you need it if you want to play MP.

Bump. Would it be possible for someone to explain very simply how the map_heights thing has to work? Because I can't understand how landbridges are possible in EB even when the terrain seems to be two pixels apart (e.g. the one in western Peloponnese). Thanks!

Seconded. I've read every thread I can find concerning land bridges (including the "how to make real rivers and land bridges) one, and seriously, none of them actually tell us how it's done. Maximum gratitude to anyone who can provide a short guide.

I've been trying for days to create some landbridges in Lusted's TE mod, and have also had no success, even though I copied the changes from other mods that have landbridges exactly. I've deleted map.rwm, corrected map_heights, map_regions, and map_groundtypes, but, nothing seems to make any difference.

Could one of the EB people please tell us how they made their landbridges, step by step, please?

Look again. You see how the landbridges are done?

Sorry for the late reply but somehow i missed this thread.

All i can add to the tutorial thread is that all you really need to make the landbridges work is to edit map_heights.tga and they are working only on half of the map - if you have 2 lands separated with 1 pic of water and there is no landbridges then you'll have to move it 1 pic up or down (or left/right if the sea area is vertical).

Don't forget to check if on map_ground_types.tga there isn't an unpassable area - like the mopuntains near Tingis. And don't forget to delete the map.rwm.
