Hello I'm Bobicus this is my first post on the forum.

I have an interesting idea for a mini-mod for Europa Barbarorum.
I like being able to recruit regional units in EB and in Rome Total Realism.
But I think a better Idea would be to be able to recruit "mixed Culture Units"

For example, If Romans invaded an averni city and built a barracks for forign
troops. Instead of being able to recruit averni units, they should be able to
recruit a new type of unit. A cross between Roman and Averni.
I'm sure the real Romans made some sort of attempt to "civillize" the gaulic
tribes.

The new unit would be like the Averni had they been trained by Roman
Commanders. They would have an Averni look but with more roman styled
Equipment, like a larger, more roman, shield; a shorter sword. As well as
better, heavier armor (but probably not as heavy as true Roman Legions).
This new unit would likely use hastati formations but wouldn't
be as disaplined or have as tight of a formation as real Romans.

New units could be designed for every mix of cultures. But only units for
factions close to each other would need to be designed.

Unfortunatly, I am quite lazy and lack the intellegence to design a mod myself
I would just like to get the idea out there if anyone would like to include
something like this in their mod.

Anyone else want a mod like this?

I doubt they have enough room for so many units - they're very close to the limit already IMO

I'm kind of under the impression the Romans, like most others, largely just let their "foreign" auxiliaries fight in their own fashion albeit of course as a cog in their own military machine. This was often also in order to use local specialized expertise in one field or another to make up for whatever gaps their own specialization left in battlefield know-how (the Romans for example were kinda short-handed on almost everything else but close-combat infantry).

That said, there are some such "mixed" units in already, namely the Roman post-Marian (or was it Polybian?) auxiliary cavalry types and Syrian archers.

True. In fact, some preexsisting units have had to go to the chopping block.

Is their still some room for the Celtic Cataphracts?:idea2: And who's gotten the axe?

There's always room for Celtic Cataphracts!
Some late Roman units may be getting sacked.
