I think I can post a new thread for them :)

There are still lots of bugs (skewy bone weighting) and the skin is no 100% done (the helmets, pikes and rapiers are not skinned and I still have some tweaks to do , along with creating the specular map), but that's how the Spanish Late pikemen shoold look like :verycool:

EDIT: Old sreenshots have been removed and I've added the new ones :juggle2:

Note, that they're still WIP and new some major tweaks (I've just found out that I have to reweight and re-export them again).

Still advancing :P

And here you can see the new pose I've created for the first row of the pikes (still WIP though)

And different angle - note different helmets - cabasset and combed morion. There's also the 3rd version of morion (no, not the black one - it's a bug :P ), but they'll be more clearly visible when I finish the skin :)

I quite like it. Bear in mind though, that while the morrion was an element of protection, many soldiers would just wear hats, bandanas, or nothing, since armour get lost, and it is heavy and uncomfortable to haul around...

A good beginning !

The unforms of that era were very varied anyway - especially when soldiers came from several countries (usual thing) and some had equipment with them.

I will make it sticky.:book:

Very good!

have there been screenies posted before?

Thanks for the positive feedback :D

I've tweaked the models a little bit, so they look better now, though I still have to play with weighting (because when walking their buttocks poke through the clothes :laugh4: )

@SwordsMaster: I know about armour being heavy, but I like morions so much that it'd be waste to have the pikemen bareheaded:sweatdrop: Though I think we can have less protected version for un-upgraded pikes and full-armored for upgraded ones (after all they're elite, they shouldn't lose their arnour :D )

@Warluster:

Nope, there's the first time I've posted these screens

@Cegorah:

Great that you like them :) I've send you an e-mail asking for more unit roosters, could you post them? I'm currently looking for European unit roosters, as I want to create other pikemen based on this model.:book:

I was just saying it because, since in MIITW we can introduce several head models, it would be nice to have 3-4 morrioned ones, 2-3 bare-headed and 1-2 hat models... You know, mix it up a little.

The fact that they (are supposed to) wear more armour doesn't mean that they are elite, or that they actually wear more armour... Lighter pikemen (picas secas in spanish) would have slightly shorter pikes, leather cuirasses, and morrions or hats/bare heads.

Good job though, it's quality work.

heh, I can try to take some of these morions out - but it's up to my boss (Ceg ;) if he agrees:laugh4:

Anyway, maybe you cannot see this on screnshots (as morions currently have no skins) the pikemen use 3 types of morion - one combed, one cabassete like and one with even bigger comb :P Today I won't be home, but tommorow I can post some screenshots with more visible morions ;)

And thanks for the assisatnace SwordMaster, you're a real mine of knowledge about Spanish military!

Heh, no worries. Glad to share the knowledge. You are right, I can't really tell the difference with the weird white lines going through the helmets.

Ehh seems that to my older e-mail account I don't visit too often.

Anyway I suggest to start with something slightly different - the SCOTS - different head (might be used for bare headed later) with the blue bonnet and other changes. Also bearded Russian pikemen is a good pick .

Can you start with those ones ?

Besides I really don't know what kind of morion was used in for example Polish army...

=Omni=

Roger that :) I just have to iron out the bugs from the Spanish pikes ( I had to redo the UVW to fit the bare heads - I think the full-morioned ones will be for armour ugraded version) and I'm off to do the Scots :D

honestly, what I have to do to make Scots is just to model non-armoured body, bonnet and new heads (as I already have the stocks done). And of course skin (that takes the most time, as I'm not as good in skinning as in modelling)

Anyway, I'll wait patiently for more roosters :book:

You can always do the unique pikemen from the Polish roster - long coats, caps - virtually everything different than anyone else is using.

Persoanally I wouldn't worry too much - I am not a uniform/helmet buff and am rather inteested in variety and decent level of accuracy - sometimes it's just too hard to define certain features.

Too bad, because I'm a realism buff - years working for realism mods do the job :laugh4:

Hmm, Polish pikes - sounds good :D I just have to finish my exams and I'm ready to work (just got e-mail from my teacher that I've failed the first one, darn)

BTW. What about OiM mod? Are you gonna exchange models with them? Because if so, then I have nothing against it :)

I would love some nice and bright colours. Afterall look at the pictures from those times and you always see people dressed like this:

Hey, hey. I like the new pikemen much better. I like the "seasoned, battle hardened" look of the cuirasses and clothes. Still can't really tell the difference between the different helmets, but that could just be a skinning thing.

Nice work though. They look tough.

@stig: the ones you've posted wear a parade uniforms, I doubt you could see them dressed like that on the battlefield. Also, the bright/colorful soldiers are from early renaissance, so they fit (hardly) into the begining of the mod - while my pikemen are about 100 years older :)

@Sword Master: unfortunately, the battle-hardened look is added by the MTW :P so I still have to wear a bit the skin (honestly, I'm thinking about doing it from scratch again :shame: )

And BTW - a little progress on the Scottish pikemen - the new head and a bonnet :D But again, the skin is very WIP, so it has a lot of artifacts and unskinned places (like neck :P ) But at least I have a base for bearded face, so then I can start on Russian pikes :book:

This one is from the Dutch war from independence for example, see the colours. People didn't really wear mud colours.

Howdy!

Long time no see-no hear, but I've just got back from my long holiday, ready to work :D However, as soon as I got back I've found out that my PC didn't have a good time and (possibly) during one of the thunderstorms that rolled through the Poland it got damaged - i.e. my HDD died with all the data on it (yes, with pikemen too ;-( :wall: )

Fortunately, I've done a backup of my files some time before I went on holiday, but these were not my most up-to date models, hence I have to make most parts from the scratch again. But worry not my friends, I've already done some progress, and soon you should see more :2thumbsup:

Here are some WORK IN PROGRESS shots

I have a fix that I posted at the TWC. It works. Try it out.

http://www.twcenter.net/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=2192

I moved attack/defend brace to battle_config...........made the range 3 metres. Then adjusted the skeletons file to match. I am releasing a new version Friday. Some of the idiots here took the sword away which makes for an idiotic unit.:furious3:

if you contact AlphaDelta at TWC he can maybe lend you his model...........he is an idiot..........the model is without swords.
