As I sit here with a vast array of graphics applications open I thought it would be a good idea to get some input and ideas.

This is a basic overview of what I have added to the current map (ie 11 new provinces). LMM didn't work, so I had to do it the hard way, so I know the entire Irish coastline to the pixel.

Quick question: I've done most of the HiRes, and the LoRes is just 50% on both the X and Y axis, so all I have to do is resize and save correct?

Another thing, there are 52 free provinces. So if anyone has any recommendations or requests I may as well add them while I'm adding the current 11.

I'd love your work, if I could see it...

I'll upload and send the bit I just did then.

The Isle of Wight is also added. Slow progress because I'm a perfectionist (and BKB's Age of Warlords).

Done. But the palette is not/will not be correct because of the graphics program I used? How do I assign the correct palette?

To answer myself yes, and to anyone else who is interested use Mithel's Image Converter (http://www.3ddownloads.com/strategy-gaming/totalwar/Tools/Mithel_ImageConverter110.zip).

How do you set the Origin, Castle and Port points on the map?

Not sure about the Irish provinces though. Uí Chennsalaigh should be south Leinster, and Uí Dhúnlainge north. If you wish, Osraige can be to the west as well. As for connacht, it's a bit difficult as Uí Fiachrach was most of the coast and Uí Briúin was the centre. Tír Chonaill should be much smaller too and Aileach moved more to the west.

I had to make Osraige bigger than it actually is just so it could actually fit a castle and unit stacks on it (:laugh4:), I need to remove its sea access though and reshape it a bit.

Split Leinster in two? I can do that if you can provide a basic outline of where the split should be made.

I'll see what I can do.

Should the small section of the European continent be added?

Sigma

It shouldn't hurt the game should it? what part of Europe are we talking about? that piece of France right below England?

naut

Yes.

Sigma

I wouldn't see how it would hurt anything, maybe split it up into some smaller provences to instead of just one big slab :P The vikings historically did set up settlements in Normandy I believe...

Ok three new provinces Neustria (Normandy), Vlaanderen (Flanders) and Francland.

Four Irish provinces to fix up and I'll be on the home-stretch, and I'll make no more changes.

A map i did for twelfth century glory. The interprovincial dividing lines are extremely rough though.

Its much later than your period though so there are many changes.

In Laigin, uí chennsalaigh would have represented uí chennsalaigh naturally, and the four northern regions uí dhúnlainge. The Uí Dhúnlainge would hold power at this stage.

In the North airgialla would also include uí thuirtrí region and uí mhicc uais, and fir luirg would be part of aileach.

The western half of breifne would belong to mide at this stage as well (draw a line from the top of the western border of mide to the lake in uí cremthainn).

Hows this?

It's not perfect, but it's hard to do. ~D

The only problem now is that Sea 20 (the Irish Sea) can't have more than 15 neighbours declared or it will crash so simply you can't invade Uí Chennsalaigh or Scottish Dal Riata from there.

Yeah that seems perfect.

Right well airgialla (the strip in ulster going from coast to coast, shouldn't really be touching the Irish sea at this stage, so you can remove that and bring the bright blue (ulaid) down instead of it.

In the province in the very north west should be like tír chonaill on my map. If you can draw a line from one of those inlets to the other that would do it. I'm asking a lot here amn't I.

Excellent, I'll definitly do that right now, that solves some of the Irish Sea problems too.

I'll get onto that also.

So who is going to using the new continental provinces? The Franks and Continental Saxons?

naut
07-10-2007, 01:41
Rebels and it gives the Vikings some more targets.

ULC
07-10-2007, 19:47
I suggest a low rebellion factor, so that the Vikings can use it as a base of operations and an excellent money maker.

well france was under charlemagne at this stage and would have been well capable of defending itself. However after 850 it would have been weakened and turned to rebels, thus vulnerable to attack. Would it be possible to script that?
