View Full Version : A Tale of Beer and Old People! - New Mafia [Concluded]

The old man, CountArach walked down the long, winding street towards his old folks home. They were serving tapioca tonight and he never liked to turn up late for that. He felt ahead of himself with his cane, making sure he wasn't going to trip over one of those "skates bordes" that the kids were all talking about these days. Damn kids.

A car started to drive up the street, an SUV, loaded with some of those damn hooligan kids. He could hear their music from here. CountArach reached into his ear and turned his hearing aid down a bit. Much better.

The car continued up the road, slowing down slightly to pull up next to him.

"Hey you!" a voice called from the car, laughter following it.

CountArach halted and turned towards it, keeping his cane nearby, prepared to strike at a moments notice.

"You ever played beer catch before?" The same voice asked, starting a fresh chorus of laughter. What could they possibly be laughing at.

Then it hit CountArach. Not the thought - that had gone way over his head. Instead, the beer can, on the other hand, had not missed. He fell over, then blanked out.

The Constable received an irate call the next day.

*************************

This is the new Mafia game. As usual, there are two teams. These teams are:
1. The members of the old-folks home
2. The beer can throwing hooligans

The roles:
2 Hooligans - They get to do two immature (Albeit hilarious things) each night to two different old folks. They are to provide me with a basic outline of what they want to do - I shall write up the actual "kills".
1 Nurse - The basic doctor role.
1 Constable - The basic detective role
The rest are townies. The townie PM will be provided in this thread. There will perhaps be a secret role, perhaps not.

Voting is done in the usual way. Players will be WoGed after 3 full days (ie 6 full phases) without a vote. No Lynch is not allowed, and instead wail be counted as an Abstain.

Alright, let the game begin! We shall start with a 48 hour day phase

BEGIN

Here is the Townie PM:

Old Folk
You are an old member of the Old Folk’s home (Who would have thought?) and are probably somewhat annoyed with these recent whipper-snappers who have the gall to throw things at you. Why you are so annoyed, you cannot figure out. Perhaps because you are a Vietnam veteran? You seem to have forgotten that entire section of your life, but anyway that is all behind you.

As an Old Folk it is your job to try to get the Hooligans lynched by voting during the day. Unfortunately, you site is not so good, so you cannot see just who the Hooligans are, but you know that only through arresting them will justice be brought about.

Will the game start with a lynching?
Are we going to post our incriminating pre-game chatter?

I never understood that 3rd on the bandwagon is guilty rule. Has that EVER proved true? Not in either of the two games which I've played. Why do people still believe in it? Or is it just tradition for the first round? If so then I guess it's as good a reason as any to kill someone in the first round.

Whether it encourages discussion or not, most mafiosi would want to lynch innocent townies because that helps their cause more than abstaining and makes them less suspicious. That could also be your intent for voting shlin, he's a good lynch candidate and you found a nice reason to lure others into lynching an innocent townie for you.

So, voting somebody for a good reason is scummy? :inquisitive:

Mafiosi don't want to lynch innocent townies, they kill at night and hope for the town to lynch the wrong guy. The town always lynches somebody. They have to in order to win the game.

In every game, most of the lynches are innocent townies. As long as it generates alot of discussion, it is well worth the sacrifice. Eventually, we'll get a decent amount of posts to analyse once we reach mid or endgame.

You should know all of that already, Husar.

I'm sure no one will believe me, but I'm NOT mafia!!! I haven't got that lucky.

Why is everyone targeting me in both this and the Spinach Conspiracy? I have yet to be mafia and knowing my luck I never will be.

[Edit] So stop hunting me and let me help you!

And with that, with what feedback I receive from this post, I will either lay down and die in peace or charge in with my battlecry and let the mafia know who's boss.

Thank you

Well if my math skill is good like all other asians, theres 9 people who havnt voted for someone. (Thats from the tally. Somepeople just abstained)
So I decided to make the voting longer so we get the people more active and stuff.
And I dont want Zain dead yet because his being active compared to most of the peoples. That is the reason why i tied the vote

Beefy - 4 (Zain, Prol, Husar, Beefy)
Zain - 4 (khaan, Hanky, Sigurd, Ichigo)
Husar - 3 (Andres, CR, FactionHeir)
Omanes - 2 (Stig, Sarathos)
Warmaster - 2 (Hepcat, RoadKill)
Twilightblade - 1 (Warmaster)
Stig - 1 (Omanes)
shlin - 1 (Brave Sir Robin)

Ok people, you're wasting my time by making a tie in the first pre-killing round , then you can't even read how the tie voting works and now I have to decide between a "take the other guy!!!" and a "take me, I've given up anyway" character. And you know what? Both can be said to be scummy, beefy for giving up and voting himself, Zain for being cold and calculating and not giving us the same reason to lynch him that beefy did, he said it himself that giving up now will make him more suspicious and thus he will ask to be kept alive. Now I can understand beefy's reasoning since he's a constant lynch candidate apparently.

As I see it, mafia are much more fanatical when they decide to defend themselves - often resorting to attacking other players. CountArach mumbled into his Tapioca something incomprehensible. Probably slightly offensive as well.

"Attention people," the Police Constable yelled over the mumbling of all of the old folks. The noise did not die down. "ATTENTION PLEASE!" The Constable screamed this time, high enough to penetrate the humming of the hearing aides.

"What you yelling for?" One of the old people yelled back, joined by a chorus of other old people chiming in. The Constable left the question unanswered. He had several retorts, but all of them were too expletive to write in a small fluff section such as this.

"Now that I have your attention, I have an announcement to make. I have asked you all to cast ballots as to who you would like to see punished and subsequently arrested for the recent problems with the so-called Hooligans."

"After tallying your votes, I have found that Zain is the most popular choice. As such he shall be arrested and thrown in jail."

Zain was still looking down into his Tapioca - he did not have a hearing aide despite having the worst hearing in the whole group. Someone tapped him on his shoulder and pointed up to the stage. Zain looked confused, then walked up with his zimmer frame.

"Whadda you want me for?" He yelled up to the Constable, not aware he was speaking far too loudly.

"I place you under arrest," the Constable said, clamping the wrist irons down on him. Zaincontinued to simply look confused as he was led off towards the jail.

He voted for Zain last round, who in my opinion was innocent, but that isn't really relevant. In my opinion it's more his reasoning for voting for Zain, rather than his actual vote which influences me to think that he may be guilty. As you have seen, his only reason was a "yes" smiley - signifying that he was simply jumping on the bandwagon rather than thinking sensibly for himself. I'm sorry GH, but I don't think you've ever acted in this peculiar way before.

Let me correct this fallacy in your reasoning right now so we don't have to bother with it later.

I voted for Zain on the basis that Sigurd called him out for being third on the bandwagon and his reaction to it. Now, I am quite familiar with this mafia (or is it Mafia?) tell, having been caught myself with it in Graffiti Mafia way back in January. Similarly, I watched him catch greaterkhaan in the same way with it in Cosa Nuova II, as GK can testify to.

There has already been testimony that Zain has acted in the classic mafia manner (for a newbie) when being pointed to with this evidence. I myself simply ignored what Sigurd had said, but this is irrevelant because I had been playing for several months prior, something which couldn't be said for either of the other two.

Thirdly, I only put a "yes" smiley because, at the time, I was busy with the end of Mafia VII, which has taken up the majority of my time on the .Org for the past month.

Fourthly, *insert WIFOM argument here*

Zain
09-25-2007, 00:03
So... let me get this all straight and peachy in my mind.

You lynched me due to my reaction of falling into the "Third Bandwagon" trap/curse, which could be described using the same reactions of previous newbies that fell into the same trap/curse.

And how many of the people who got trapped/cursed were ACTUALLY mafia?

I await your reply with great anticipation.

Murder in Room 403 - Night 1
The door to Room 403 creaked in the night breeze, not disturbing Tiberius of the Drake at all. He was fast asleep, and as such did not see the shady figure come into his room.

The figure walked over to his bedside and looked down at him, smiling under his hooded coat. Tucking his hand into one of the coat pockets, he fished around a bit until he found what he was looking for. He raised it to eye level and into the moonlight. It was a hearing aide. He placed it in Tiberius' ear, then walked away, closing the door behind him.

**********************

Crazed Rabbit was in the sitting room of the Old Folk's home, totally unaware as to what was occurring in Room 403. he was lost in a daze.

"Time for bed, dude," a voice called form behind him tauntingly.

"What did you call me, you Whipper-snapper? I'll make you pay for that one!" Crazed Rabbit stood up and turned around to face the hooded figure. The man raised his hand. There was a cup in it.

The cup tipped over Crazed Rabbit, spilling its green slurpie contents all over him. The figure stood there, laughing its mocking laugh. Crazed Rabbit was just in a daze. He hardly noticed when the young man had reached over and pulled his pants down, laughing all the time.

Standing there, covered in a sticky, unusual liquid, with no pants on, he couldn't help but notice just similar it was to that time he went to the nudist camp.

**********************

Hepcat returned to his bedroom. His eyesight wasn't as bad as most of the people there and as such he could find the Doorknob himself. He was quite proud of that. At least, far more proud of it than someone his age should be.

He opened the door and couldn't help but notice that he wasn't alone. The other man in there was swathed in a white overcoat, making him look somewhat scientific. The microscope in his hand just reinforced that idea. Of course, what told Hepcat that he wasn't a scientist was that the microscope came out of the man's hand and straight into his forehead, knocking him unconscious.

he woke up an hour later, the man having shed his overcoat, and the rest of his clothes in fact. Except for some undergarments, which Hepcat was particularly pleased with. They were a strange fleshy colour. In fact, if Hepcat hadn't have known better, he would have thought they were flesh. That would just be silly.

It then dawned on Hepcat. He was chained to the wall, unable to move. Hepcat tried to struggle with the bonds, but they just cut further into his wrists. The man just looked up at him and smiled. Then he did something that no one (Not even the narrator of this strange story) was banking on. He started to dance.

And dance he did. Hepcat was taken up in the rhythm. it got a bit weird when the man started to do a lap-dance, but hey - whatever's cool. Stranger still was when the man came to Hepcat's belly... there was no belly to speak of, only some strange intestinal looking things. Intestines in fact. Hepcat's Intestines.

The man now stopped dancing, and reached into the underpants. Well, they weren't so much underpants so much as they were the remain of Hepcat's stomach. The man pulled out a knife. He raised it up, up, ever up, then plunged it into Hepcat's throat. Hepcat started choking, not from the knife - he was dying from that - but because he saw one of the strangest sites of the night happening before him. The strange man started to shower. In his blood.

**********************

The Constable yelled something, trying to get some control over the gathering crowd of strange old people. Tiberius couldn't for the life him figure out what it was he was saying. He saw the lips moving, but didn't hear him at all. In fact, he didn't hear much at all.

he reached into his ear and turned up the hearing aide.

KAAAABBBBBBOOOOOMMMMMM

They found his foot on the other side of the room, completely detached form his body.

Care to give a reason for that?

The next round I want to focus upon GeneralHankerchief who I suspect is one of the two hooligans.

Why did you make that statement at night?

He voted for Zain last round, who in my opinion was innocent, but that isn't really relevant. In my opinion it's more his reasoning for voting for Zain, rather than his actual vote which influences me to think that he may be guilty. As you have seen, his only reason was a "yes" smiley - signifying that he was simply jumping on the bandwagon rather than thinking sensibly for himself. I'm sorry GH, but I don't think you've ever acted in this peculiar way before.

He nodded yes because of Sigurds' "third on the bandwagon" curse. The reasoning could have been better allright, but it's always better to have a random lynch then no lynch at all, because of two reasons: 1) you might get lucky; 2) it generates discussion which might give clues for the later game and thus the random lynch can turn out to be a worthy sacrifice.

I want to hear more from you.

Well, voicing suspicion during the night is generally not a very good idea because it gives the mafia ideas on who they should let alive.

But to be fair to you, this early in the game, it isn't that harmfull.

We need more people to talk.

Well, to some extent it's a feeling that someone who was killed by CR in round one of Mafia VII might want revenge, that would make pevergreen suspicious as well, but Sigurd made neutral comment about there being no kills yet and that he was losing interest, which might be a trick to make us think he's a bored townie.

Omanes was standing on the side of the pack of odd people, hurling the random piece of abuse towards those darn Hooligans! They reminded him of the war he had fought so hard in. He just couldn't remember which war that was. In fact, he had taken a lot of drugs in the 70's, so wasn't altogether sure if he had ever been to war.

Either way, it was horrible, treating potential veterans like that.

"Omanes, can I please have you up here?" The police Constable yelled over the din of the old people. He hated old people. Real hate.

"It is with great pleasure that I announce your arrest. Yes, that is right your arrest," he repeated to a confused look form most of the people. That was just because they hadn't heard what he said in the first place.

Omanes just stared at him and cocked any eyebrow. Fancy treating a Vet like that. He was there man.

It is now night 2.

Andres was on the way to the recreation room, to grab himself a chair. It was Friday. Tonight was the weekly Barbecue and 'recreational moderate drinking session'. Oh how he was looking forward to that. The fine Dutch beer. Drool seeped out of his mouth. Someone came up behind him and gave him a beer bottle, with the label of his favourite beer. He drank it, savouring the taste.

----------------------------------------------

GeneralHankerchief was sleeping silently under a rug, in the food area. It had been a long day. The nurses had come around earlier distributing the very early morning newspaper. However, for some reason they had missed his room. He went out to the front and saw a cloaked figure, holding his newspaper in his hand.

"Why thank you kind sir, I'll be taking that if you don't mind," GeneralHankerchief said, leaving an adequate pause for the Narrator to be able to type out his name.

"Gahzette this, man," the cloaked figure said, before beating GeneralHankerchief to death with his own newspaper column.

-----------------------------------------------

Stig opened his eyes and looked down on the site before him. It wasn't his Girlfriend's room like it was supposed to be. he could tell because she was 23 and her room always looked completely different to the ones in the Old Folk's home.

There was a strange man before him. I will spare you the description, but lets just say that in addition to Hepcat's skin for his underwear, he now also sported a T-Shirt, made of Stig, or at least his leg.

The dancing began, a slow waltz this time, not at all like this racy man's usual pace. He had learnt many things as a Doctor, insane though he may be. Slow dancing was one of the more important discoveries he had made. The cure to AIDS paled in comparison to it.

The dancing stopped and Stig could not help but look down at his leg and watch his life blood spray away. The man had started to shower in the blood.

"Did you ever dance with the wolves in the moonlight, Stig?" the man inquired, a maddened look on his face.

Stig scrunched his face up. 'How could he possibly know about Dallas?' he wondered. He opened his eyes and mouth to respond. All he saw was the strange man with a knife in his hand. He slit right across the jugular. All those years as a Doctor had made him quite proficient with a knife.

After the showering was over, the crazy doctor pulled out an ice cream scoop and scooped out both of Stig's eyes. He started to chuckle to himself. He was going to put them in CountArach's viagra medication and would see what would happen.

Needless to say, CountArach got quite a surprise the next night.

-----------------------------------------------
Andres had finished his third beer, and was about to doze off - he had always been a real lightweight. A man approached him from behind his chair, slightly disturbing his rest.

"Oh Mr. Andres, you're looking very green tonight. Could it be all that poison you just drank?"

"Poison?" muttered Andres in the way only a drunken man can.

"Oh yes, but not the conventional one. This is a special kind of poison. I like to call it... Heineken."

Andres never moved again. He was found in the morning with his eyes wide in terror.
