View Full Version : Avatars
Hello,
~400 avatars from the Lordz Napoleonic TW mod have been added to the pool of URL avatars and can be used by all members http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pics/avatars/index.php?st=foto&foto_dir=avatar/NTW
Copy the blue text above the avatar you want in the UrlAvatar box (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editprofile) located near the bottom of the page.
Go to edit options (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editoptions) and tick the Display Url Avatar box in the Thread Display Options section. You can choose to disable viewing the normal small avatars here as well with the 2nd selection box: Show Avatars.
These NTW avatars may enhance your ETW feeling, but you can also select them just because they are beautiful.

Thanks to the Lordz (http://lordz.thelordz.co.uk/) for making these avatars.
Great! Shame I already am madly in love with my own. :P
Add a second in your profile picture, a 3rd in the extra signature?
Vuk Brankovic,
Both the Extra sig and profile picture need a full URL to display the content.
I set both to http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pics/avatars/avatar/Hannibal.jpg but you can update it to something else.
k, great! Thanks. Can I make one with my own face? (In a medieval style :beam:) Is that just for mods?

Yes, that can be done for an URLavatar. It just has to be this dimension, around 10 kb max and the theme and style is a bit broader. If it remotely looks like the styles/themes that are already there, I just add it. If it's something new (f.e. cartoon style, fighter pilot) the members decide.

Is the url avatar only visible under user profile?
Hello Rodion Romanovich,
Go to https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editoptions section Thread Display Options and you can decide what you want to see in posts: avatars, URLavatars or both.

This game will be about XVIII century (and early XIX, too).
But why these avatars have only person from Napoleonic Wars?
This game will be started in 1700...
You can add persons from early XVIII century? In Empire TW will be Peter the Great, Marlborough, Charles XII etc.

Hello King Louise Assurbanipal,
Because, these are avatars from the Napleonic mod for RTW made by The Lordz. There is an Urlavatar option for a while, and this is yet another public pool.
It just happens that these come close to what ETW is about, thus they are mentioned here.
People can expand the URLavatar collection, they can even submit something custom/personal. ~10 kb, 96*142 pixels, history, needs to feature or represent a human. When in doubt the members decide.
Do you happen to have XVIII century pictures?

Hi, can you tell me how I can add a pic off my PC e.g. of Frederick the Great.I thought there might have been a browes button to click so I could use other pic's other than the ones on here.....thanx for your help Ray
Hello Frederick the Great,
It's not possible to do that directly.
Please go to this page (http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pics/avatars/index.php?st=foto&foto_dir=avatar/NTW). You'll find an option to upload an avatar: ~10 kb, 96*142 pixels, history, needs to feature or represent a human. When in doubt the members decide.
Drop a note to me that you've done so and it will be moved so you can use it.

Hello Frederick the Great,
Pictures need to be uploaded to a webserver first. The ImageShack function in the advanced reply can be used for that.

I'm currently working on some US avatars, if anyone has any suggestions for some Revolution/1812 generals, soldiers and sailors, please post a name and if I find a good portrait, I'll add it to the pack I'm working on. They are under 10kb and 96x142.

Thank you very much for your help TosaInu with my pic.....just need to know now how I can adjust the size........cheers
You're welcome Frederick the Great.
Adjust the size? The board displays the picture like it is. What would you like it to be?

I thought I might be able to adjust the size of my pic the same as Marcus Furius Camillus on the "Battles" tread post No.21 and his pic of the Scots Grey's charging at Waterloo. If adjusting my pic distorts it just leave it.........
cheers
Hello Frederick the Great,
That will distort; you'll need a larger source and cut from the height to get the same wide dimensions. You have the original picture?
