IMPERIUM JULIANORUM V2.01a PATCH

http://files.filefront.com/IJ+patch+201aexe/;9348528;/fileinfo.html

This patch is designed for IJV2.0 and supercedes IJV2.01 patch
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. make sure you have a fresh, unmodded install of RTW:BI
2. make sure you upgrade BI to v1.6
3. Make sure you already have installed IJV2.0

The installer will point the patch to the RTW (root) folder, and it will overwrite existing IJ folder.

IJV2.01a Patch includes the following changes :

1. Correction of errors to the descr_battle_model.txt file
2. Alteration to the recruitment of roman and aux troops by other factions. Eastern Carthaginian and Barbarian factions can now recruit roman milite troops. Roman and Eastern factions can now recruit desert aux troops (including some Sassanid units).
3. You will now find at the start of the game there are six cities that can recruit Palatina units. These are: Rome, Ravenna, Verona, Constantinople, Nicomedia, Antioch. This doesn’t preclude you from building more palatine units at other cities, but first you have to grow your economy so that you can upgrade your buildings.
4. Roman Guard troops such as Scholae, Domestici and Stablesiani can only be recruited via Academic Schools (Academy, Scriptorium, Ludus Magnus). This is to reflect the fact that these units were also being trained as future army officers and generals.
4a. Domestici pedites and equitum east units now included.
5. Roman Governors/Generals can now be recruited via Equites Stablesiani, but only in certain places. Be warned, these troops morale is not as good as the Candidati. This is to avoid people just recruiting generals. This is best used when a player is playing a campaign with the “manage all settlements” option turned off.
6. Have increased the number of Roman Units to allow for greater variety across the whole empire. This includes the addition of an additional milites unit, the praeventores and superventores, the equites auxilia (in the east), the numeri units (including the Numerii Cuneus Sarmatum) and some additional foederati troops.
7. You will note that foederati are now under their own officers and standards and are fairly easy to recruit but more expensive to retain. This is to reflect the fact that these troops would really only be called upon for campaigns etc, not for border patrol. These troops, at this time were still untrained barbarians, not the organized units they became under the Byzantines.
8. You can edit the recruitment of troops if you wish by opening the export_descr_buildings.txt file.
9. Barbarian troops have had their unit sizes increased, as well as their charge bonus, as it was considered that Germanic troops charge was intense. These troops have also been made impetuous as they were always more difficult to control than fully trained units.
10. Sassanid Savaran troops now take longer to recruit and the Asawira Cavalry can now be recruited more quickly. This is designed so that the AI will recruit Asawira troops more often than Savaran. This, I hope should redress the balance of Sassanid armies a little.
11. Elephants morale has been increased so that they don’t run amok as quickly as they seem to do.
12. Roman Palatina units have been decreased in number slightly for better balance.
13. You can edit the stats of troops if you wish by opening the export_descr_unit.txt file.
14. Corrected the 355AD script.
15. Corrected the CA strat and IJ strat files.
16. Corrected Iazyges Bodyguard problem
17. Corrected errors in quotes files

Credits:

The current version includes work by the following modders:
-julianus heraclius (main developer)
-Goth (originator/units/...)
-Ramon Gonzales y Garcia (units/map/stats/faction symbols...)

aside from stuff used in IBFD, IJ uses additional resources from:
Lusted (Palatinae units)
King Louise Assurbanipal (Cataphracts)
RomaSurrectum (Legionary Eagles)

There are two campaigns:

Main Campaign - 361AD

The main campaign begins in 361AD with Julian having arrived at Constantinople. He now prepares for his campaign against the Sassanids.

Even though he has been victorius over the barbarians they have not been defeated.

There are those who are disloyal to Julian and don't want him to succeed with his plans of a neopagan revival. Will he succeed, or will he fail. It's up to you.
Provincial Campaign:

This begins in 355AD with Julian being appointed Caeser by the Emperor Constantius II. Julian's task is to defend Gaul from the invading barbarians, and who knows perhaps he main claim the throne for himself.

It all sounds like TOTAL WAR.

Many, many thanks must go out to Ramon for all of his hard work in creating some of the new unit skins. Without him this mod wouldn't have happened.

So is this part of Rio's mod, or something else? Anyway, looks great, will try over the weekend.

Was this also before the divide of the Roman Empire?

Just so you come back... WTF is this? doesn't 7.04 of IB have it's own Imperium Julium campaign?

Hi Wladyslaw,

Ij is a stand alone mod, IBFD doesn't have a IJ campaign as it is set in 410AD. IJ has two campaigns, one in 361AD with the empire united under Julian and the other set in 355AD with Julian as Caesar in Gaul.

There is also a patch for IJ coming out soon (IJV2.01a) which will correct the errors found in IJV2.0

Cheers

actually, we included IJ v1.0 in IBFD 7.04 so I can understand the confusion of Wladyslaw IV :smiley2:

re: Wladyslaw
julianus heraclius (the main developer of IJ) and I decided to make it available as a separate install instead of being a 're-package' of IBFD; mainly due to the hassle it creates in switching from one version to the other, and the inability to install BOTH mods at the same time.
since IBFD 7.04 + has been dropped we sometime forget that IJ was included there:grin:

You're the guy from Invasio Barbarorum, so what are you doing here??

So there's three: IB, this one and Rio's Dark Ages mod.

This one really through me off, the last time I played any of these was when IB was IB, and Rio's mod was a sub mod of IB.

Is this one (Imperium Julianorum) a stand alone as well?

Maybe that one question answered will help me the most.

Yes there are now 3 mods of IB and each is a stand alone mod.
