Greetings fellow wargamers.
To pass time between new posts in the screenie thread, I propose a competition of beardiest army. Any army fielded by an opponent of yours, or indeed an army that you have shamelessly fielded is eligible!
To clarify, a beardy army is one where the commander has gone to lengths to find holes in restrictions on army make up and such, to field an army that is for example made up entirely of specialist troops, without core units like militia etc. that would in from role-playing or realistic perspective never see the light of day. Though recent versions have drastically decreased the ability to field beardy armies, I think there are many a tale of audacious army compositions out there!
As an example, a friend of mine fielded a Space Wolves army under the 2nd edition of Warhammer 40k. In this army list, it was possible to field Wolf Guard as a squad, and your army had to have at least 25% squads in it. Wolf Guard could have any wargear and their squad could be 1-20 miniatures. My friend chose to equip his 20 man strong wolf guard with terminator armor, and arm ALL of them with chain fists, assault cannons AND cyclone missile launchers!
Anyone who has faced a single terminator with a cyclone launcher can appreciate the lunacy of this, I suspect... 20 x 6" templates, everyone under them hit by a krak missile = ouch. Then comes the sustained fire of 20 A-cans :p
Now let's hear your tales of great beardiness!
