Is EB 2 going to be for MTW 2: Kingdoms only or will it work on regular MTW2 too?

Sorry if this is answered in any other thread, but I'm curious. I seem to recall reading somewhere it would be the case, but I want to be sure.

Kingdoms only.

Which is good since Kingdoms makes M2TW looks like an bug-ridden-two-patched-left-for-dead-EA product.

Wait... that's what Sega did too. -_-' Have fun with sticking the CD in the tray everytime you want to start it :-D

It would appear so. It contains software that makes sure you don't use an illegal version, though it is easily circumvented and opens your computer to weaknesses. Here is the thread that discusses it:

Its not securom 7.0 though so it doesn't mess with your computer, it just makes it so you have to stick in the CD everytime. The problem is that if they decide to move to 7.0, then we get the hidden-hard-to-remove stuff. Otherwise its fine.

Publishers can decide what versions to get/which options to use so you don't need to worry THAT much.

so is it safe or not? i dont want to screw up my computer to be able to play EB II, even if it will be amazing. im just worried since my computer has been victim to viruses and such in the past, and the blame (kinda rightly) always gets pinned on me

I never have viruses on my comp, and i have not uninstalled the root kit. As long as you dont do anything stupid, it works fuine. Indeed you have more chance of messing up your comp by trying to take it out and accidentlypresssing the wrong button, so to speak.

Its technically not a rootkit, its just installs crap without your knowledge or consent and then makes it hard to remove with possible side effects to your system performance

The main reason why 'rootkit' is associated Sony's products is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Sony_BMG_CD_copy_protection_scandal

That was a whole lot worse since it created a huge security hole due to really crappy implementation. Securom doesn't go as far as replacing or modifying the OS itself, it just creates a service that keeps the program on your computer from being deleted using somewhat shady and annoying methods.

Like I said above, I believe that Kingdoms doesn't use the 7.0 version or atleast not 100% of the options since I have Bioshock and the AVG anti-virus kept flagging the Bioshock EXE as a trojan because of Securom while it doesn't even bother with M2TW.

Lol, I don't even have to bother removing any kind of rootkit, as I bought the russian version (which also has an english option) on ebay for cheap.

It doesn't have any kind of rootkit or protection, so I never have to bother with inserting the disk before playing.

Do you actually mean Russian or is that a euphemism?

I believe he has the actual Russian localised version. Often the russian versions of various games do not have active copy protections in them. For example, the exe file of russian version of Heroes of Might & Magic V didn't have securom in it. I had to use that to get my legally bought version of HoMMV to work. Sucked, big time.

That's ironic.

in that link, Food is saying that the games won't work unless Securocom is still instilled unless you have a NOCD cracked...
what is that?
