It's in the same dictionary where I found safinah. The reason for the latter being there at all is that modern Persian is unfortunately littered with Arabic words.

so what's wrong with that again? this happens all the time- English has been affected that way by Norman French (far more than Farsi was by Arabic too), as have almost every romance language out there has been affected by Germanic languages-especially French (e.g. Guerre instead of Bellum, Forêt/Bois instead of Silva, several names like Louis, Guillaume, etc). Even one Arabic dialect has been so heavily influenced by Italian and English it's now considered a separate language-and these are just a few examples. It's what happens when people want to invade/migrate intermingle.
Did I mention Arabic has a lot of loanwords from Persian?
those eyes are creepy. I seriously cannot understand why anyone would put that on a ship-I'm sure it creeped out the crew as much as the enemy :clown:
It's not Farsi Ibo, it's Persian. Not that it matters. I can picture you going around speaking of such languages as Hayeren, Italiano, Espanol, and so on. Totally ;)
But as long as the crew does their work(rowing) they don't see it :DQuote:

:laugh4:
that's just the name I grew up with: we had a guy who owned a grocery across the street who was from Iran. he insisted on calling it Farsi, so it kinda stuck. helps that in Arabic, "Persian" is called "Farisi" or "Farsi". so there :clown:
though, as you may note, I do use "Persian" as well. I don't really care. and no, I don't call Armenian that, or Italian, or Spanish. sorry to disappoint :laugh4:
Where are you from then?
That's highly unusual for a Persian. Some won't mind, but insisting on "Farsi"...
But only because you guys don't have a P. Persians do, which is why it's weird when they emulate the Arabic pronunciation.Quote:

@ athanaric: I think it was for the same reason people on the eastern seaboard of the US emulated British accents in the 19th century: it was the fashionable thing.
and considering we only spoke in Arabic to each other, his insistence was normal (he spoke little English, and I don't know any Persian*)-it's also the correct Arabic word. I could go on to explain in detail what occurred for him to insist, but I can't be bothered, and I pretty much gave away the clue to it-the fact that we spoke in Arabic.
@ rickinator: I've been all sorts of places, but I spent a good deal of my childhood in Kuwait, where the guy lived- he had a family business in block three, in one of the side ways branching out of Al-khansa' street in Salmiyya- across the street from where we lived, about a kilometer from the Co-op store and a Mosque. I went there almost every day for groceries, and naturally got to know him.
*he was going to start teaching it to me, but my family had to move before lesson 1 could begin
so heptsomething means it has 7 rowers per oar or 7 rowers for every 2 oars '
Nice question and this should answer you question:

So 7 for every 2.
Note. The one rendered isn't an exact replica. Just the main features.
Very, very impressive work, Tux.
The way you chose to depict that unit makes it easy to imagine the horror it must have caused for the ones encountering such a ship.
One question though: Will the Heptere be available in addition to the ship types known from EB I or will it replace one of them (the Nees Megistai come to mind...)?
Too bad there are no Naval battles in M2TW :( I somewhat got used to them in Shogun 2 and really like the looks of the model.
The games from the new engine have too long loading times. I could take a nap whenever there was a loading screen.
SOOO True, It's usually the time for me to get a new pot of tea, find something to eat, go to the toilet, clean up the room or If I did all the above: watch some TV
Don't get me wrong, I don't want the EB team To modd Shogun 2 (or any other newer TW game) I'm very fine with M2TW, it loads faster and the graphics are very pleasing already(if you apply a proper skin which is not the case in Vanilla, YUK). Havin Ancient warships in shogun 2 like battles is more of a thing I imagine being cool, just like I imagine it being cool if EB2 is released .... wair for it .... NOW. I know neither will happen and I would not wan't to modd Shogun 2 into EB myself thus I won't be suggesting that :D
danke schön tux
