Yes It Was! Up For One? :clown::egypt:
Bridges I was expert on, but lost my touch on them. Team Bridges Always was Fun on VI. I remember in July of 04 or so, A Buddy of mine and I was doing a castle game on VI, and he told me about Castle 2_5_2 while I was using my Swiss Army (never changed, kept the same one!), and I used the Castle ever since. Good Castle to Defend, Bad For Attacking :clown::egypt:
I remember attacking one of those larger castles, and my enemy ended up with less kills than me, since most of his were from ballista and arrow towers. However, he still won the battle, since my poor guys were steadily depleted while he stood his ground with his spear units, allowing his towers to do their thing. hehe
T1: I remember some of the players wondering how they could have gotten beaten by a team with me as one of its members. Especially after I charged their frontlines by myself and routed so easily. hehe
Though, after awhile, some learned not to pursue when my men routed, and not leaving their nice defensive positions to avoid being slaughtered by my waiting teammates. Those who chose to believe my routing was not part of an overall plan, normally found out they were mistaken in their beliefs. I never got many kills, but my routed men normally could be rounded up and used to help cover my teammates' flanks and distract enemy units long enough for my teammates to do their thing.
Those type of tactics don't work in the current game engine unfortunately. I think it is because the morale/fighting penalties from fatigue and other factors like height, being outnumbered, etc were modified to not have as great an effect on the outcome of the battles as they used to. Which is another reason I didn't play M2TW MP as much as Shogun and MTW1.
I hope this next game engine brings back those factors to increase the learning difficulty for advanced players, while keeping the game mechanics simple so new players will stick around long enough to learn the nuances of the game. Experience meant a lot in Shogun and MTW1, while unit selection meant more in RTW and M2TW.
Now that CA has a much larger market of experienced players, they could increase the difficulty level up to the old Shogun/MTW1 levels with no detrimental effect.
:D nice to see some old farts still visit the forums if not play the game, havent been intotthe tw community in a while but planning to start playing single player again, anyone know of a good completed mod for mtw2?
Retrofit. It also allows for MP hotseat play. :) Good to see ya Swoosh, how is your ugli self doing? :beam:
One of these days, I will get the ole Ugli site up and start gathering the old gang together again.
Just stop by to say Hello to my old Buddy. Long time no see El, how you been. Hope to hear from you.

Nice to see you back. I'm only here casually at the moment (kind of on a study/project/kid hiatus).
New name, new start. Have fun. Do as you please and please as you do!

Ode to old times
Let old wounds be forgot.
And new sunrises seen.
Lets remember what was.
And what might have been.
In tumultuous times we shed each others blood.
The vagaries of war fought out in lackluster mud.
For our fallen comrades we shall shed a tear.
But now old enemies we shall too hold dear.
Another day and another time.
Lets forgive those crimes of old, yet breath and polish old glories.
March out with your medals that were gained in your youth.
Now pinned to ancient chests that toil down the path.
Lets remember the best of each other, not our worst.
For today we come together and remember our lost.
And with the going down of the sun, lets enjoy our last breaths.
Not with curses of hatred, but with laughter and joy.
Laugh and enjoy these moments for the ones who cannot.
Forgive and forget those hatreds, let your heart be free.
Now come and enjoy the company of old comrades and yester-enemy.
Let us go forth and enjoy the twilight times.
Good One Papewaio!
