Problem with unlocked factions after update?

hi i;m having a slight problem seems the unlocked factions don;t work after the update i was having lots of fun playing Genoa and conquering the world so is there a new unlock version for the updated version of empire?

I just re-modded the startpos.esf file after the update and had no problem continuing my invasion of N. America as Portugal (since Brazil doesnt exist as a campaign map, ive shifted Portugal's base of operations to Georgia ). Ive made it to the year 1718, before the patch the game froze in 1722. We'll see, I guess.
