hi all, 1st, great work on eb1.2, seriously good... not sure if these have been asked, so please dont be offened or shout..
after a serrious week long (12hrs a day) session on eb1.2, following on the back of a week long session on deus lo vault (no work for 3 weeks now) i have several observations and i guess a few questions that i would like to ask..
after doing a few very long campaigns on eb,it dawned on me that every settlement i captured started going down the same route as the settlement before it.. there seemed to be no indivaluality in the differant settlements.. no reason to pursue a differant path of building the infrustructre.. (apart from the factions with reforms) but then they also ended up being the same.. every settlement being a over populated clone of the one before it dictating to me wot buildings i had to build in order to just keep everyone happy.. i installed the city mod which did help with the population side. (good work and highly recommened). is this something the team can work on?
also the balancing of units seems to have made certain units of differant cultures basically the same,but with differant skins. They also seem to have lost their indivaluality. not in looks but in performance, ie- the macs heavy caverly i thought would be considerably better than most,as would be the steppe's heavy caverly. (that is just an example). and not just with higher morale..
now i realise that the balancing was required, but it strikes me that all of the differant factions heavy troops nearly have the same stats.. do you think this is a true represention
(this is a guess, you guys are the history buffs,so no probs if you tell me iam being thick)
but i would like to see a definative differance in unit stats, and abilities, specially in the factions true elites..
example-
i would not want to face a half stack of (say) greek spartans with a half stack of mac elite guards, even tou they are both elites, surely the spartans would hammer them, unless fully supported by caverly, then it would be a reverse hammering.
now i found this over balancing of units true in deus lo vault also,and while it may be sometimes needed it surely takes away the accurate portrail of factions and their troops?
