Thread: CD key help - not asking for one.

  1. #1

Default CD key help - not asking for one.

Before anyone kills me, I am not asking for one - just a little advice.

I bought the game as soon as it came out and obviously installed it. But I have now lost the manual with cd key, I have linked it to my steam account so can I uninstall it and then reinstall it later using my steam account?

    Thanks for any help.

N.B. if this is the wrong forum then by all means move it and I apologise profusely.

I believe once the game is registered to a steam account it stays that way permamently, I have logged into steam on my father's computer and it shows me as owning all my games, just that they are all uninstalled, so I don't see a problem there, but tut tut! don't lose your manual again! I put all mine in safe places

    disclaimer: not 100% sure...

If you logged the CD key into your Steam account, you're good. No need to re-key it again.

I thought there was a way to retrieve your key from Steam, but after a bit of poking and Googling, I can't find it.

I actually just found out how to and did it, the wonders of regedit.

Right-click on the game and select "View CD-key", perhaps? Can't check at work but I recall seeing it there for some games.
