I've not played very much - I was trying to figure out why it likes to crash on me so much. Apparently on some systems, if you have the graphics set too high the game decides "OH NO CANT HANDLE IT" even though you can, and will crash with a C++ error.

Followed some stuff online and am reinstalling, see if that fixed it.

I've played it a bit today. Seems like the third level in each stage is the killer. It's been TKOing me (and groups) all the time.

MRD hopped in The Parish with me earlier today, we were about halfway through and my god were we having a rough go of it. We had some guy on our team who loved to shoot cars and kept shotgunning them while trying to snipe smokers, it got to the point where it was just hilarious. "You are terrible at this!"

We had to restart the finale (the bridge run) 3 times before we finally completed it. MRD and the car-sniper got rescued while me and another guy were tank bait. The Parish has to be the hardest campaign of them all, no question. The finale isn't so bad if you can stick together - its the crescendos leading up to the finale that are the real challenge. We played on Advanced.. I can't even imagine Expert.

When it was all over I had killed 1152 infected on my own, the grand-total for the team was something like 3.5k. Good times.

I was playing VS in the Parish with MRD, he joined rather late, we had a nice pub team.

The finale, I just ran by myself, made it right at the end, then the second tank hit me off. I beat everything before that. Two made it to the copter. Was great fun.

I then typed "pro" into chat, and one of our teammates made a snide remark.

    Bleh.

    We then smashed MRD's team.

On the note of campaigns, I did most of Hard Rain.

    Wow.

Easily the best campaign in L4D I've done. The atmosphere, heavier rain...you make it, now go back in thunderstorms, things are being flooded. Its crazy!

Yeah I shoulda known better than to join a game in progress that was 2 people short...there's usually a reason. The one guy who ran out a window, down the stairs and up the street while we were all fighting a horde and trapped by a spitter...then he berates us for not helping him LOL. After that the whole team was in-fighting.

I think on the bridge the best thing to do is run by the tank. Someone will usually get killed, but bunching up on the narrow passes and around the edges to try to fight is asking for trouble.

Hard Rain is a pretty good level, the storm covers the sound on special infected and the visibility is low. I don't like that you have to backtrack and basically do the same map twice, but all the sitches in the corn mill is a nice touch. I guess we know their favorite food now.

I think the trick is tanks cannot flip vans or big moving trucks over, so if you can do a littlE "ring around the rosie" with the tank, you can bunch up and slip by him without risking a car roll onto some unlucky slob (like what happened to me on the last run). after that, 4 guns blazing can make it to the chopper pretty easily.

I agree with you on hard rain. amazing fun and the weather is certainly a game-changer. its kinda annoying how it silences voice-chat(its so loud it drowns it out!) but it also adds to the tension. so far, it and Swamp Fever are my two favorites.

I haven't even played this game yet, much to my shame. What little free time I've had has been consumed by the RPG du jour. My little boy lemur, on the other hand, has logged massive hours on it, and tells me it's great. (Yes, I abandon my PC for the laptop when little lemur wants to kill zombies.)

I made a promise to him that I would try the game this weekend, so if you see lemur playing L4D2 on Saturday or Sunday, there's a very real possibility that it's me, rather than my spawn.

    Hi Guys,

I thought I'd just introduce myself before I sent friend requests to you for l4d2 so you don't think I'm a nutter

Wife permitting I'm on a couple of times a week, but joy of joys will be "working from home" from 30th November onwards so should be on a lot more in the daytime (GMT)

Hope to see you online soon!

had my first go at it tonight.

feels slightly different to L4D, but great fun all the same.

    played the carnival campaign.

melee weapons add a whole new level to the game. The chainsaw, while sounding awesome, has limited uses unless you plan on being a zombie target. I hate campaign 1 level 1 as u can either pick a pistol or melee.....no level 1 weapons

Urgh, Dead Center part 3 is the most grueling level in L4D2. A dark mall, endless hordes, said hordes dropping on top of you, and a crescendo which always seems to get set off by someone..... I can't even finish it.

Some of the campaigns are easier than others. I think Swamp Fever and Dead Center make up for only having 4 chapters by being impossible. We all had mics in that one, and we still couldn't make it past.

I've never died in DC. not played SF yet.

How much fun was that game last night, CR/MRD?

You're all dead, just me alive in the pool in the first level of DC, running around with a 460 ping, avoiding hunters.

I had the highest kill count that round.

Yeah, that was a good time, I had had a little wine by that point so I was shooting at shadows.

ZigZag, the guy from my friends list, was freaking hilarious as the redneck American. I don't even remember what game I met him in, but he cracks me up with all the dumb stuff he says. When you told him you were Aussie I knew that he would spout of shrimp on the barbie in less than 10 seconds.

Was a fun match, didn't even mind losing such a close game, but a lot of those maps I just don't know yet. And like I said about the wine.....

Made it through all 4 levels of Swamp Fever today on Expert Realism, we were rolling. Then, at the crescendo in the plantation house, our host has to leave, sending us back to lobby..
