    Default More Newbie Questions

    Hello,

I saw today that ETW had gone down in price and I am thinking of getting it.

I have a bunch of questions about your opinions mostly.

    1. If you had it to do over again would you buy this game?

    2. What do you think is a fair price for this game?

    3. What is the ETW: Special Force Edition? Is it worth the extra money?

    4. Is this game better than M2TW? How about MTW or RTW?

Thanks for responding. I've played all the TW games and am actually playing Shogun right now.

Well first of all i wouldnt buy it in version 1.0 deffinetly not. But i would probably get it now with all the patches and knowing that more improvement is on its way. A price is a hard question but one year after its release, i would suggest something between 15-20 pounds. As for the SFE i wouldnt recommend it because all u get is 6 extra units and a campaign map, i got it and nothing special there really. As for the previous total war games, although i liked most of them, i would prefer MTW over them all. I hope that helps.

I don't know about that. I bought the SF also and I like those units a lot.

    It is hard to quantify.

I will go in order though.

    1. Yes I would buy it again

    2. For the SF edition, anything below €50

    3. Yes, especially now. Those are good units and it could be a long time before you can get them as DLC, the same with the units that come from one of the distributors. Who knows if you will ever get that as DLC.

    4. That is very subjective, but yes I think it has the potential to surpass MTW in replayability and I like it better than M2TW and RTW by all means.

    1. No. Yet oddly, Im still suckered into buying all the DLC.

    2. £20

    3. No it really isn't, I've heard that you can get the Special Forces themselves as DLC now and since the only other difference is the box I'd definately forget it.

    4. Well like the other guy said that's subjective. I'd say Medieval 2 was the superior game but then again I prefer the time period. It would be nice if Empire actually worked but then I haven't had a chance to play it much since 1.4 except to see it crash.

EMpire is 50% off this week on STEAM, you wont get a box, but its worth the 50% off to get it, it is entertaining and the AI is getting better, buy it at 50% off and you won't be disappointed like the suckers that pre ordered it on release, like me

    Thanks for the responses.

I just ordered the Special Forces Edition for 34$ and change. (US)

I considered getting the regular one for about 21 bucks (US) but Best Buy had it on sale and I trust Best Buy more than some of the other vendors.

    Looking forward to playing it.

    Hope I'm not disappointed.

depends on your expectations really, 34 bucks isn't too bad I suppose, 50 bucks is full price for a new game over there right? also depends on the power of your PC, if you've got a good one you can put the graphics on high.

Just make sure its completely updated before you start playing and don't think about all the problems we all complain about, play it with an open mind and let us know how much fun it is!

I would have definently bought it yesterday. 50% off just 2 dollars for what cost me 10 and best of all the game is patched and playable. The WPC is a nice touch too so in my opinion you have made a good buy.
