I am going to do something I have never done before in a hotseat, and quit. Sorry, and here is why:
1. Vanilla is boring as hell. There are over a douzen great mods, and probably douzens of other mediocre mods, and they are all better than vanilla. I am never going to join a vanilla hotseat again.
2. The GA experiment did not work out - this is a total war game and players still approach it as such. Great idea, but too many GA goals make it hard to concentrate on them, and instead we did what we would usually do - blitz our neighbors. Maybe we should try it again but with a small set of Glorious Achievement goals.

Sadly, I have lost any kind of interest, and the fact that my turn was quickly passed around Thanksgiving, without me ever receiving notification by PM, helped me arrive at a decision to put an end to my participation. Do not get me wrong - I am not upset because my turn was skipped. It just made me think about how seldom I check here, and how this is due to the fact that I have no desire to play.

Many thanks phonics, for hosting this, and thanks to everyone who played - this just was not the right hotseat for me, but I would be happy to play with all of you sometime in the future, if I ever regain a desire for hotseats.

I'm sorry you're leaving Kahvan, but thanks for taking part and for your feedback. Some good points there I think, especially about the choice of vanilla instead of a mod. I was hoping to increase participation by keeping it simple, but I had forgotten how slow vanilla is.

I think time will tell about whether the GA ruleset works - remember we're only eight turns into a forty turn game. It might well be that the guy who blitzes ends up winning, but there may be a couple of blitzers and the thing that separates them one of the more obscure achievements.

Anyway I hope you'll stick around the Throne Room and join (or start!) another game.

Also can everyone please remember to PM the next person in line when it is their turn?

Well, I was looking forward to duking it out with Tristan (if he's still out there), but you got to admit that the movement in this game is terribly slow. I'm willing to keep going, but it's understandable if most people want to stop.

well yea i did send him a pm. so he should know its his turn already. didnt he have some kind of problems with his computer? assuming hes out too u d have to fill 3 positions Phonics. maybe just 2 leaving the danes out. im willing to go on although the movement rate is just f ed up. 1.5" a turn really just sucks. that acutally is what makes it boring somehow coz there simply isnt much u can do in 1 turn if it takes that long to deploy troops. maybe starting allover again with a game where troops got regular movement rates like in the dogs of war game isnt the worst idea. although as i said im also willing to go on with this too. hungary is in a interesting position so
