Fighting isn't about winning, it's about depriving your enemy of all options except to lose.
"Hi, Billy Mays Here!" 1958-2009
Super preview.
But I have two questions:
Will there be an new city and province in the south of Petra???
I ask that, because I read following sentence:
"Hauran and Lihyan, to the north and south, are ripe for the taking, and their chief towns - Bostra and Dedan - are oases of commerce."
Does this new province replace the province Augila, which will not be in EB II yet?
Another question:
Did I understand that right, that there will be in game a trade way through the desert (like the one map it showes)?
Imperator Barbarorum
1. Do you see an additional town on the map you mentioned?
2. Depends on what you mean with trade way. We will however try to represent the incense routes as good as possible. They should have significant influence.

Ubar if it existed was more likely to have been a ethnic denomination and possibly the name for a region, not a settlement. Saffara and Sumhuram are archaeologically attested and better candidates than Shisur, the site to which the original map maker possibly identified it with. While that was surely not connected to the Ubar myth, it was also much smaller and of lesser important than the two mention before.

No you can't, the screen shot in it has unit that isn't released yet.
I did tell him as reward for helping me and the EBteam.
Manly tear of manliness just dripped from my cheek.
I bow down to you people of strange and remote greatness.
I wish I could read all those books quicker than I would.
I love what you have done with the little information there is.
One thing that I noticed was that why it looks like as if the Suez Canal is in the map?

I can't wait to play as these Arabian factions in EB II! I also eagerly await the day when I can pronounce Sb' w-gwm!
Will the Nabateans start off with Petra or Bostra? Or both? (I just want to update the fan-based map progression thread).
I'm sorry if it said it in the preview somewhere, I must have zoned out reading it.
We love you because you died and resurrected to save us...
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
One cannot draw roads on the map if that's what you're asking. Nor should these settlements start with roads or anything. But the trade that goes by will be simulated and will add money to the faction controlling it.
Random question: is there a fear effect for cavalry when facing dromedaries or camels in M2TW?
Well that looks fantastic!
I have played a couple of campaigns as Saba which were enjoyable but this should liven up that faction no end.
I'm not sure how the MTW2 engine works but will the Nabatean faction have a reasonable chance of surviving if it is an AI faction?
Anyway thank you very much for that thoroughly enjoyable preview.
A long wait, but it was worth it. Very nice, I'll see if I can hasten the Arab invasions by some 800 years

Can't tell you how happy I am about this faction's inclusion. Actually, I can: I'm extremely happy! And what a fantastic preview! Thank you guys so much!
I wonder if this faction will be included in the Gaza Campaign release.
Always wanted to conquer the Middle - East and Egypt (and to much further, North-Africa and maybe Iran) with the Arabs, but in EB 1 they had a poor roster imo.
Hopefully in EB 2 we will meet a new Arabia with a more formidable power
How do you intend to make Arabia hard to conquer, but prevent Arabian factions from conquering the world?
The Nabataeans will rely much on being more capable in the desert, they are poor siegers not unlike the Sabaeans. Both will however be depicted as they were historically. They weren't world powers but conquering one of them wasn't evident either. Also I don't think the Sabaeans governmental mechanics would allow distant and strange lands to easily be incorporated. It would be easier for the Nabataeans especially after settling and Hellenizing.
I smell a reform à la Pahlava!

I just read over this preview again, and am awed, absolutely awed, by the detail and accuracy of the preview. Definantly a +10 rating.
Awesome preview! looking forward to EB2 more than RTW2!
PS: i've been working on some of the mercenaries that might make it to EB2...also things like rebel banners etc. Do you think you might be interested or would i just be wasting your time?
