“Go forth and conquer the holy city, they said. Riches and eternal glory will be yours, they said,” I muttered to myself as I continued my pace down this gleaming hall. My advisors' gluttony for loot may have finally gotten the better of me. Sure, here I was, a successful conqueror, a newly crowned emperor, acclaimed the new divine prophet of the gods. But that didn’t do me a lot of good down in this maze. The high priest had claimed the location of an ancient vault, which held all of the divine relics the gods had once cherished. He failed to mention the labyrinth… I should have executed the man, but he seemed as surprised as I at the underground maze. He said the vault hadn’t been touched since antiquity. Now, wandering lost with my entourage and supply caravan, I knew why. Supposedly, it was simply a case that the door had been sealed shut for ages, only now mysteriously opened. I’d had doubts, until we discovered the door had sealed itself behind us. Now, we had no choice but to move forward, brothers in venture, hoping to discover an alternate exit.
To its credit, the labyrinth was pristine. The walls, floor, and vaulted ceilings were made of the purest marble I’d seen. There had been multiple occasions where we’d found what may have been ancient temples, held aloft by mighty pillars. It was almost as though a small city had been buried away down here, every house a mansion, every shop its own market. There were indeed a number of beautiful artifacts which we grabbed on our way, golden idols and gem-encrusted goblets. It was remarkable that this labyrinth contained such a massive amount of room. There’d been no sign of it from the outside. With a sigh, I signaled to the entourage behind me. We’d been marching nonstop since discovering our plight, and many were exhausted. This particular cavernous chamber seemed to hold a number of exits. We could stop here for now. I had no idea what time it was, but we needed a break. I ordered the torches extinguished, and, along with a couple of my bodyguard, slouched with my back to the cold wall. Just a short break…
I was jerked awake by the sound of screams, yelling, and general panic. People were milling about, pointing fingers at each other, yelling in accusatory tones. Gah… I guess it’s time to assert my authority again…
“SHUT UP!” I bellowed. Everyone instinctively snapped their mouths shut and turned to me. Oh yes… definitely perks to being emperor. “Now, what’s going on? Why’s everyone flipped a nut?”
“He killed Javea and Falis while we slept!” The elderly quartermaster pointed at a servant.
“Nonsense, old man. It was obviously the general! Probably with that knife he always carries!” a second man whose identity eluded me.
“No, it was the priest!” claimed a third, equally anonymous person. “With the torch, in the temple hall! Kill him!”
I put a hand to my forehead and sighed. “We don’t really have time for thi-“
“WE DEMAND JUSTICE. BLOOD FOR BLOOD!” The crowd bellowed. So perhaps there was a limit to imperial authority after all. Perhaps it would be better to appease the bloodthirsty idiots so we can move on.
“Very well. Just decide amongst yourselves who did it, so we can move on. We still need to escape, after all.” No sooner had I finished than the crowd immediately descended into chaos.
Hello everyone, and welcome to my newest iteration of mafia! For the curious, I'm trying something relatively different from my usual modus operandi.
Setup:
Every player in the game will be set up with a partner. This means this game can only begin with an even number of players. I'm looking, ideally, for around 30-32 players, but I can tweak for up to 40, or down to about 24. Each pair will be able to partner up with another pair to perform night actions. A group of four, operating in sync, will have a 100% success rate performing doctor or vigilante actions. A group of two or three will have a 1/3, or 33.3% chance to have such a successful action. Most roles will, by default, have a zero % success rate for such actions. The mafia may be infiltrated into these starting groups, or may be in their own groups. After a certain number of phases, depending on the casualty rates, I will allow for a "public auction" of sorts to re-partner up for those who lost their partners. A player will declare an intention to partner with someone else. If no issues are raised, they will become partners. However, if multiple intentions are made to the same partner, and the partner does not issue a vote of preference, then other players may vote for a preferred pairing to act as tiebreaker. Ultimate tiebreaker will be random.org if none of the above sufficiently break the tie.
There will be multiple independent roles, four mafia, and at least two pro-town roles with powers above that of the usual townsperson.
Rules:
NO QUOTING HOST'S PMS, NO QUOTING CHATLOGS, NO SCREENSHOTS, NO ALTERNATE ACCOUNTS, AND NO TRANSLATING PM'S-You may claim whatever you want, including role name, so long as you don't quote my PM's word for word, or very close to word for word. You may quote a pm from other players.
The dead cannot reveal anything, including previous night actions, but they may participate as much as they want to contribute to general discussion. The dead also may not communicate outside the thread in any way, shape, or form relating to this game, be it via PM, chat, quicktopic, or other.
I do not allow Vote: No Lynch as an option. Period. You may abstain, however.
If you wish to take back a vote, you CANNOT do it by editing a previous post. I will not count it. Period. You must unvote:Askthepizzaguy in order to recant the previous vote. In order to vote for someone, you must do so in the usual Vote:issaikhaan style. Votes must be bolded, for reference.
WOKs(Wrath of Khaan) will occur if a person does not vote 3 rounds in a row, or if they do not vote in 4 rounds in total. Please, please don't make me do so. It won't be a pretty death.
Suicides will only be allowed in the event of a person being very much unable to participate in the game. I do not allow suicides for any other reason.
No links to anything outside of this thread. Period. I don't care if it pertains to something completely irrelevant.
It would be very helpful for the sake of my sanity if player's kept a tally running.
Please don't mess with the tally! I know sometimes errors happen, but if I determine that anyone deliberately misrepresents the tally for benefit, they will be wok'd.
Voting periods will be 24 hours, though it will likely end up being 36 on a number of occasions depending on scheduling issues.
Any ties in voting will await someone to break it. First vote to either person who is tied will result in lynch, regardless of any posts after it.
The game won't start for a bit, due to there being two games currently running. However, signups are beginining now! Once one of them wraps up, we'll have the green light to go. Any questions, feel free to ask! Welcome aboard, and have fun!
