Hmm... Ah heck, why not. Interesting concept.
It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then, the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.

A little question concerning the rules: What happens in case of a tie?

I recommend a tiebreaking method of whichever thing in the tie was voted for first in the round, breaks the tie.
In other words, option A gets a vote before option B ever does. That breaks that tie.

Boo! That means it's never actually a tie and the first person to post in any particular phase automatically gives his choice a leg up for the rest of the round. I'd prefer a coin flip or some kind of other random selection to ensure that the early-risers (or whatever time zone is appropriate to the phase) don't always get their way.
it depends :)
in case of lynch votes, as others says.
But in case of story... I would prefer if it could be the MERGE of two tied options :)
Like for example when choosing theme. Let's say that tied options are horror and cowboys. So the theme would be... Lovercraftian monsters on wild wild west!
Or when choosing: go route A, B, C. Tied options are A and B - so party splits. Or something unusual, devised by host happens
I vote for Cyber Magic- Land. Let's give new meaning to the term Technological Wizard!

A dystopian, Post-apocaliptic pirate story would be cool as well.

Voting for the themes isn't going to officially begin until I close the sign-ups. Once that happens, you will know when to vote and what to vote for.
I don't have any sort of plan in case of a tie, but I will probably go with whatever seems the funniest option. That said, I'm not really expecting a tie.
Sign-ups seem to have filled up quickly, so I will leave them open for one more day and then I'll close it so we can get this gaem started!

If they tie, merge them!
I actually think it might be wise for me to drop out of this one, sorry.

I suggest tie = no lynch. RNG is a flawed system.
Keen to get this one started.
While I agree with the second sentence, I disagree with the first one. There are at least 3 non-rng methods of approaching this problem:
1. tie = no lynch. BIG NO for me
2. ATPG's method. Somewhat elegant, but with flaws described by TinCow
3. tie = double lynch. Not always balanced option, but IMO preferable
There are more than that.
4. Sudden death. A tie extends the day phase until the tie is broken. The moment a vote breaks the tie and puts one person in the lead, the round is over and that person is lynched.
5. Run-off. A tie results in a new lynch phase where the only candidates for the lynch are the people involved in the previous tie.
Both of these have been used in the Gameroom, with (4) a favorite of GH. (4) is pretty balanced, with it's main flaw being that it gives a great deal of power to whoever is online at the time the round is up. That said, breaking a tie in a situation like that is its own complicating factor with implications for the tie-breaker, so that balances out the power a bit.
5 is the most balanced, but also the most time consuming.
I propose that my vote simply count twice as much as everyone else's combined in the event of a day period. Everything will sort itself out.
DAY 0
It was a beautiful day out. Spring break had just started in the Gameroom, and today a bunch of Gameroomers had shown up for the grand opening of a brand new theme park. This new amusement park was known as Mafia Land, and supposedly it would allow the participants an unprecedented amount of control over the rides and games within. Expectedly, the Gameroomers were all super-hyped about this, because if there was one thing that they liked, it was games. And rides too. Rides were ok.
So hyped were some Gameroomers that at 6:00 AM that morning, approximately 27 were camped outside waiting for the Grand Opening of Mafia Land. And at 6:00 AM that morning, the gates to Mafia Land opened.
Inside the gateway stood a dashing looking man in a purple top hat and suit with some extravagant-looking coattails. The gentleman introduced himself.
"Welcome to Mafia Land, everyone! I am Chaotix, the owner and proprietor of this humble emporium of enthusiasm, and I will be your host today on your magical journey! Now, who's ready for ADVENTURE??"
All 27 Gameroomers cheered, for they were very enthusiastic and quite fond of magical journeys. Most of all, however, they were very, very, very, very, very, very ready for ADVENTURE.
"Alright then everyone, follow me straight into this elevator and we'll head down to the Game Creation room!"
Chaotix carefully sidestepped out of the way as the crowd stampeded straight past him into the elevator which had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. It was a tight squeeze, but eventually all 27 of them plus Chaotix himself were able to fit into it. The elevator curiously appeared to be made all of glass. This, combined with the fact that Chaotix was wearing a purple top hat and suit with extravagant coattails, gave some of the Gameroomers some ideas as to where Chaotix might have gotten his inspiration for this write-up. But they didn't have much time to ponder such ideas, as Chaotix pushed a button as soon as he stepped in and the elevator zoomed off in no particular direction.
Along the way, the Gameroomers saw glimpses of things they couldn't even begin to describe. Chaotix explained the purposes of each room that they passed in such a way that even afterward nobody could really understand just what was going on. At last, they arrived at what could only be the Game Creation room, and the doors slid open and the Gameroomers all flooded out into the center of the large room.
This room was filled with all sorts of gears and pipes and machinery. The only pieces of equipment that were obvious to the Gameroomers were the giant computer screen that covered an entire wall, and a curious looking green-pipe shaped doorway leading out of the room on the other side. The doorway was hooked up to the rest of the machinery and had a bunch lightbulbs around the edges that were currently turned off. Chaotix explained that the lightbulbs were just to make it look cooler and more scientific, but they decided to leave them unplugged to save electricity. This place was pretty expensive to run without the flashy lightbulbs, thank you very much.
"All right everyone, here's where the real magic of Mafia Land occurs: the Game Creation Chamber! In this room you'll decide exactly what kind of universe your ADVENTURE will take place in! Isn't that exciting?"
The Gameroomers all cheered in glorious excitement.
"That's what I like to hear. Now in just a moment you'll see up on this screen the various choices of adventure-scape you can make. This window will provide you with a view into the very worlds you might be dropped into with absolutely no safety precautions, so choose wisely! The world with the most votes is the one that will get chosen for this session. I'll give you some time to choose, and then we'll be onward to adventure! Above all, make sure you have fun! That's what Mafia Land is all about!"
Up on the computer screen the different adventure choices were outlined for the Gameroomers, and then the screen began cycling through scenic views from the different worlds. With so many cool choices, it sure would be difficult for these Gameroomers to decide!
ADVENTURE THEMES:
-Pirate Land (think Pirates of the Caribbean)
-Western Land (think Cowboys and Indians)
-Space Land (think SPACE. This might be a little redundant)
-Mystery Land (think Indiana Jones)
-Horror Land (think scary movies)
-Magic Land (think Harry Potter)
-Ocean Land (think deep-sea expeditions)
-Cyber Land (think Tron; also includes cyberpunk and "LAN party" settings)
-Candy Land (think the entire planet will give you diabetes)
-Desert Land (think The Arabian Nights)
-Nuke Land (think dystopian/post-apocalyptic)
Get choosing, everyone! You've got 24 hours.
I may extend it to 48 if I don't see enough people voting. In general, I would like to keep most of the game to 24 hours, but again I can do 48 hours if necessary. I feel like 48 hours phases tend to slow down the game unless it is huge in proportions.

Nuke Land Obvious choice here.
