Yeah - I guess that was what I was worried about :) - Thanks edse - I'm assuming that the host has forgone the option of sleep for the duration of the game? SO - back to Ishmaels question....

    No, I didn't.
Since there are two roles it shouldn't be that big problem.
Also, it shouldn't be possible to sink the ship in 24 hours if people check the thread once in awhile (you are free to test this though )

If I understand Ishmaels question correctly then (I hope I do since I just came back from work and am little bit tired) ...

Attacking/engaging someones ship is part of the stage (let's call "stage" a "turn" if it makes more sense). It doesn't make the "stage/turn" last longer.
It's up to you whether you want to attack someone during the 24 hour "stage/turn" (which would make the game more interesting) or not (which would make the game a bit boring).

So does that mean that you can choose a ship to attack once every 24 hours (once per stage/turn), but each hour you can send a specific attack order (e.g. target the sails, try to disengage)? And can only the captain send specific attack orders, or only the cannoneer, or can either member of the team send them in?

Also, if Team A attacks Team B and all of Team B is away, does Team A get free shots until they come back, or can you set up 'standing orders' to target the hull, say, if another ship attacks you? And if the host is away, do we copy our orders to both you and the target and work out damage between us?

Last thing; if you were to give your ship +6 cannons as the bonus, would that result in a 60% firepower increase? Or are they just redundancy in case somebody else targets your cannons?

Sorry if I'm being dense; I just want to make sure I've got it all clear before we start.

    1) During the 24 hour "stage/turn" you can attack others as many times as you want. If you don't sleep then that is 24 times. By default all ships are too far to be hit by cannons and that's why it is the Captain who must make a post here saying that he will engage "ship X" which means he moves his ship into the cannon range. If the Captain is also the Cannonneer then he can target enemy ship on the same post. Two ships will stay into the cannon range as long as one of the Captains makes a post saying "I will disengage" (meaning he will move his ship away from the cannon range). Also, all attack/repair posts are publicly made in this thread.

    2) Yes, Team A would get free shots as long as Team B comes back. And like I said above.. "all attack/repair posts are publicly made in this thread".

    3) Yes, that would result in firepower increase.

Once I receive the last PM I can start a timer.

So, I have sent a reminder to the last team. I give them 16 hours to send their info. After that I am going to start the game.

EDIT: Btw, how exactly am I supposed to set the timer?!

What skin are you using? I know they doesn't show in lightweight but I guess the others should work.

Looks like that's it - doesn't work with the 'Frontpage' skin either. I've changed to 'Morbid' and it's showing just fine.

Lazy McCrowsnest leaned against the gunwale of The Fanny Adams, puffing on a long-stemmed pipe while nonchalantly concealing throwing knives in his beard. The last of the barrels of salted beef and gherkins had been rolled up the gangplank - as well as an unexpectedly large number of Rum casks - all being rolled toward Cap'n Smiths cabin. McCrowsnest checked the Sun's position and muttered something unintelligible about the tides.

    1. Race to the Skull Island
    1. Start of the Voyage

During this first stage players can target all parts of ships (crew, sails, cannons, hull).
Special options for the Captains during this stage are the ability to "get new recruits" or "get repairs". In the end of the stage Captains should send me a PM saying they use one of those powers. This is just an option and you don't have to use it because if you do use it your team will be moved automatically to the last position.

These are the starting stats of the ships:

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    Ship: The Galactic Chutzpah
Officers: Captain Darth Feather (Cannoneer), Lieutenant edse (Craftsman)
    Crew: 50
    Sails: 125
    Hull: 300
    Cannons: 10

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    Ship: Fanny Adams
Officers: Captain BSmith (Craftsman), Lieutenant LazyMcCrow (Cannoneer)
    Crew: 50
    Sails: 125
    Hull: 300
    Cannons: 10

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Ship: HMS No Dweebs or Gurls
Officers: Captain townhughthom (Cannoneer), Lieutenant HopAlongBunny (Craftsman)
    Crew: 50
    Sails: 100
    Hull: 300
    Cannons: 16

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    Ship: Windrunner
Officers: Captain Caius (Cannoneer), Lieutenant Ishmael (Craftsman)
    Crew: 75
    Sails: 100
    Hull: 300
    Cannons: 10

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Important! If you attack or repair your ships then please copy all the stats above to your post. Also, if the Captain decides to attack someone then copy your ship stats and move them to the same area where your target is. Like this:

This should make it easier to follow the game and who is attacking who and who is in the range of your cannons. Remember, all ships in the same area can shoot each other!
The race to the Skull Island starts now!
This stage lasts about 24 hours!

Captain Darth Feather leaned against the bar of The Galactic Chutzpah. Every time he did that, he had to think about Zaccino the immortal who named the ship and was swallowed by a whale. He did one last inspection of the cannons. All checked. The race could begin. Actually, he thought Why not start right now. It is against the pirate code to play honourable. He told lieutenant edse to prepare to sail of.

Lookin' good Captain. The Craftsman of that ship will be sleeping for about eight hours, we can have her half sunk by then.

Will we be within range of another ship if they decide to engage Windrynner?

Captain johnhughthom watches the ruthless crew of the silly named Galactic Chutzpah callously attacking the Windrunner, who's crew was obviously still sleeping. Deciding the Galactic Chutzpah clearly had dweebs and gurls on the crew, he moved to engage.

Captain Darth Feather thinks it is indeed completely unfair to attack sleepers. Pirates are unfair though.

    He attacks the enemy sails

    He disengages both ships.

    You've lost 20% of your cannon, wouldn't you do 4 damage?#

edit: Also, perhaps I'm just dumb, but I don't really get what disengaging does, the rules imply I can just attack Darth and edse again after an hour is up. Did I miss something?

edit 2: Ah, someone else doesn't quite get it either, at least if I'm dumb I have company.

I realised afterwards and changed it.

And about the comment of them not being online: they will be while I am sleeping so then I will take some hits.

Hey, Ibn-Khaldun, how does the disengaging work? I am not quite certain.

That is correct, I will fix it in my upcoming repair post.

Edit: Damn, I got nothing to repair :(

We can disengage 5 times ( 125 sails/25) but I don't know at what point we can do it.

I wasn't having a go with that comment, like you say, we're pirates.

Just trying to form a bond with the other crew, so we can get rid of one rival together, then stab each other in the back before your corpses even sink below the waves.
