Hello andrew1069, welcome to the Org. I see you already met Knight_Yellow, the Don Rickles of the middle ages.

If MTW works the same as STW, at the campaign/strategy map, press the enter key, type the cheat code and then press the enter key again.

Actually you type them in when you're at the main map screen just as they are. You type a . to start it, and a . to end it. You know you entered it right if you hear a sound effect play.

For instance, typing .worksundays. at the main screen should produce the sawing and hammering sound effect, and from then on anything you build will complete the next turn.

Well, cheats are nice to have if you feel the need to check out stuff for fun. Why spend three days on building an empire if you only want to see how nice troops you can get with a fortress and all upgrades? Or only want to see and hear the end scene for a faction you don`t like to play?

Spetulhu, there's an easier way to check out unit stats. Edit late.txt in the startpos directory so that 1 province from each faction has all buildings and upgrades, make a special backup of this file. It takes a bit of time, but you'll only need to do this once. Then start a late era game as the faction your interested in to see what their units are like.

i always use cheats when i'm modding. gotta be able to see how the AI is doing if i'm going to tweak the thing right. also, i dont know if this is true for all the cheat codes or not, but you can some of them on and then off again by using the same cheat code.

Cheat? Cheat? Are you kidding? I played all the way thru on expert level the full campaign and its just not that hard. How / why would anyone ever want to cheat?

    andrew,

you dont use the enter key. type a period . and then the letters of the code and then another period . all cheat codes work this way. if you've done it right you shld hear a sound something like a page turning and in some cases, see the effect instantly. for instance, the .matteosartori. cheat, when typed in properly, will instantly show you all units on the board and make that sound. there's no need to hit the enter key.

I use the building speed cheat from time to time, what you don't realize is that it has nothing to do with making the game easier, I'm generally already winning when I use it. I just hate waiting.
